Hello from Moscow, guys! I'm pretty new to the train modelling, as i've got a new working table in my room and it came to my mind that it's just the right place to build a little railroad.

I'm short of space and building kind of "shelf" project on the side of the table.

what's the easiest way to make it automatic running the way shown in the picture?

1 - train leaves the depot
2 - train reaches the end of track one and goes backwards
3 - frog changes to track two
4 - train reaches the beginning of track two and goes forward passing the frog by
5 - train reaches the end of track two and goes backwards
6 - train reaches the beginning of track two
7 - frog changes to track one
8 - train reaches the end of track one and goes backwards to depot

There are some digital DCC remote for making such kind of things, but i'll need some extra units for switching directions which will sum up to around 1000 bucks all together. :(
As i'm planning only one train and not planning to make the track larger in the future, maybe it's easier to make it analogue DC, using mechanic switches?

Could anyone point me what i need to do that? how to change the direction of the train and switch the frog without use of DCC's?

I'm planning to run the duchess of hamilton by hornby or mallard fuller by bachmann, on the roco tracks
i'll post more pictures and thoughts on the project later when i'll be able to embed the pictures. so stay tuned. :)

    thx in advance!

I like the wing .... You would need to interface the DCC with a PC/laptop and use one of the command programs out there but could be done . Try this link :
www.cti-electronics.com they advertise in running a model rail road by PC. Good luck !!
