I've been postponing this for most of the month because we don't have a train show in July, since it gets replaced with the County Fair. But I was digging through some old HO Gauge stuff to sell at my friends garage sale when I found an old Life-Like grass mat. So I got to thinking and well... Here's the end result. A Splash of color goes a long way. Call it toy like if you want, I don't care, it's my layout and I like it this way:

A Few notes here. That LGB Transformer is powering the Track buffer light. And my layout is still being tinkered with and I found exactly how to even it out. Gotta pick up the short LGB Track section soon. Finally with my friend, we're going to build a 1 inch deck platform, modular style like HO Scale people do. This will allow me to even out of the cement floor that was poured wrong temporarily. I can then do full scenary detailing on the deck and even have a bridge and a tunnel with some mountains. The deck will be routed out to fit the edge of the track and not interfear with the sofa, DVD Tower, and the sofa table or the furniture in the corners.

And as for a certain medical lawsuit, numbers are in for me and I'm all for it. Enough to add a Train Engineer Revolution set to my FA/FB, give the F-Units some Sound, and pickup some custom run rolling stock (like my Great Northern Custom run that my local hobby shop buddy is holding for me.)

Kinda it for July, but some news is better then no news right?

I like the grass mat idea, my buddy from work was telling me about how he paid around $0.70 per sq ft for indoor outdoor green carpet for his screen house on his campsite. This gave me a idea to use the same thing for in my basement, he said they had better grades for just above $1.25 per sq ft. This is idea of using this green indoor outdoor carpet is definately on the project list.

I like to see your platform idea and see how that works out, it sounds very interesting.

I thought about that too, since the grass paper stuff life like makes wears off easily. I spent most of the month with weights on the corners just flatting it out. Tomorrow I'm going to investigate the grass mats so I can get rid of the paper mat. But to an untuned eye, It makes it look so much better in a dark corner like that.
