This is the first attempt at building a bridge from scratch. I still have to put in the guard rails and paint. I almost forgot the roadbed is going to be installed soon. Comments as always welcome.
It looks real good. There's no reason to buy a kit once you build one from scratch and realize how easy it is, huh?
Did you say easy?! Just kidding...I could just see myself making a bridge that looked pretty good, then running an SD90 over it and having it just crumble underneath weight!
After glueing my fingers together and other fun stuff was a good learning experience. The good thing is that you can build them for the radius you are using.
Jim, Looks great! Bridges & trestles add a really nice element to any layout and scratch building is very gratifying. Like you said, curves can't limit where you place them either, making your layout like no other. The only suggestion I have is to replace the flex track over the trestle with Micro Engineering bridge track. Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work. Jim
Will be running to Seattle tom. Going to stop at a good hobby shop in Tacoma while there and pick up some bridge flex track from ME.
The trestle looks good. Your work is inspiring as I have a number of bridges I need to build. Glued your fingers together? Seems like that comes with the territory as I do the same thing. Looking good.
Why do you need bridge flex? From what I can see, you already have the ties as part of the bridge. You should just need the rail, right? Jason
