    Hello fine people,

I am a newbie with Building a full layout. My ? is What would be a good train to use with the Grand Valley layout? I know I would like to use DCC but keep it a decent pricing. Any help would be helpful

    Thanks for your time

P.S. can I run 2 trains on this layout?

    Thanks Again

    Hi Jeff,

I was looking at this as well, for a small layout to run at the house as I convert from N to HO. If you run DCC yes you could run 2 train short trains at once. They would be pretty close, but you could do it.

Without some indication of what you like. Steam/Diesel, Modern/Older, it would be difficult to suggest specific locos. Look for engines that will work with 18" radius curves. I would expect that engines with 2 axel trucks would work best.

As the preceding poster indicates, appropriate locomotives would best be small ones because of the tight track radii. The same with the cars, 40' long freight cars working best. Bachmann makes several nice, relatively inexpensive, DCC equipped, diesel locomotives (you'll want ones with two axles per truck, not 3) and steam engines (4-4-0, 2-6-0). A basic/entry level DCC power system will work just fine, but I'm never very keen on the idea of running two trains at once on a very small layout. The whole idea is quite silly in my opinion although many enthusiasts use this as a particular selling point for DCC over DC.

Yes, Bachmann dcc line would be a good option. 70 or 44 tonners would be smallest.
