    Mike,

I have used the WS version of static. The size is 2mm which equates out to around 17". I find that the 2mm version makes for nice weeds. I will have to post a few pictures of the tuffs I have made

I would say it simulate very well longer grass fields, all the hay under the birch tree is done with 2mm static grass. plus some tiny pieces of green foam was added here and there over the hay. and I sporadically touch with the tip of a bigger brush the top of the grass with a different color to create some shades.

Works fairly well. Noch and others make it too (see: www.scenicexpress.com).
You need to get the funnel based attachement to cover smaller areas (square inches) rather than the default 3" diameter that covers larger field applications.
It needs to be held really close to make it straight up, and the least amount of the material at any given time. John Cubbing has a review and an App Note at: www.ztrains.com.

I put some in the mini-processor to cut them into smaller pieces. Sorta works.

Don F. has one. Ask him real nice and he will install your grass at the Pomona show onto your module.

Every time I see that CP caboose, all I can say is AWESOME! I Love it! Excellent work Ben!

Now back to our regularly scheduled topic, static grass...

I have the Noch yellow plastic bottle puffer, and it does not work well. Most of the grass lays on it's side. Don't buy it to save a buck.

I have the same model as Don Fedjur has, built by Chris Tatarian. I tried a test area and it worked well when held close to the wet glue, so do a very small area at a time.

Now if you look at Joe

JoeS's static grass, his is standing up real well, better than I made my test area:

Torsja made a scary Grassinator that gave him great results:

Yes he told me that he would come over when I was ready.
I was just thinking about using it without any tool just spreading it with my hands???
It's for my next Mod so I'm not ready yet................

    Ben those Pic's

I agree that the funnel attachment is very usefull. This way you can introduce greener colors around trees and the base of bushed more easily without broadcasting all over the scenery.

Thanks Robert for posting that picuture. :D I like the look as it looks like a nice tall grass or wheat feild. That being said I did mine with a homemade grassinator using the plans off the Ztrains web site.

I made my own static grass applicator and also have the Noch Yellow puffer bottle Robert mentioned below and like he said it doesn't work well, at least by itself. One trick I used to use when I first started was to take a ballon, blow it up, rub it on some carpet or other fabric to create a static charge and it will make the grass stand up. Sounds kind of wierd, but if you want to just get started with the basics, start with a puffer bottle and a ballon.

ATTENTION! The model that Torsja made is powered by an un-filtered DC source, NOT a pure DC supply (a battery is a pure DC supply). The automotive coil MUST have 'pulses' to make the magnetic field change. The battery charger he used (and most are) is un-filtered so 120 pulse per second (full-wave rectified).

If you put pure DC on the coil, it will make one instantaneous very short pulse, then nothing but heat, then one instantaeous pulse when you take the power off (like the mechanical points in your very old car).

The John Cubbin model uses an electronic inverter and therefore does use pure DC.

create your own static grass applicator

I found it pretty simple to build my own SGA from a electric fly swatter.

And it is only AFTERWARDS I found this video that shows you how.
Watch closely, if this guy can pull it off, most anyone can... :plaugh:

I found it works pretty well. It helps to work in a room that is not too dry.
