A internet acquaintance is making heavy paper printed models of containers. But he is a wargamer and not a model railroader. I keep telling him he should make them for US folk as well. What is your take on these? https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1680924898/tabletop-towns-cargo-containers
Already being done. There have been (at least) two or three guys making them on eBay over the years. And at least one of those is still active.
I also recall this concept discussion a while back, but cannot find it right away. I thought someone here at TrainBoard was also making containers?
I recall an internet site where you could print out containers on card stock, cut out and fold your own. I thought I put in favorites but can't find it.
There is a site where you can down load 20' and 40' for free with different names. You just need heavy paper and a color printer. http://www.igshansa.de/igsdownload.html
That's the one but, not reading what I believe is German, I don't know how to eliminate the tag on the top of the box.
I use Google Chrome and it translated the page for me. I saved it to a word document now how to get it posted here is something else. What tag are you talking about? All the tabs just fold and get glued to the insides. Since these are paper I was thinking about getting some Balsa wood and cut it to size to give them some weight also. I just printed one out to see what it looked like on normal paper and found you might need to play with the printer settings a little bit. A 40 footer printed out at 36'6". I'll play some more later.
