I have been baffled for years about a feature shown on an official blue print of the Frisco yard at Fort Scott Kansas. Maybe someone on this forum can tell me what it is. In the middle of a large group of tracks is a short section of track which switches off a yard track, than runs parallel about 50'-60' than back to the yard track. The tangent piece of track passes thru a long narrow rectangle. I have aerial photos from the same period which show this area, and the rectangle is not a building. This detail resembles how I have seen ash pits and inspection pits drawn. Many of the tracks are labeled such as roundhouse lead, power house lead etc. The mystery for me is that this track is labeled "Pussey Track". Does anyone have any idea what this is? I have heard all the snide suggetions a million times, but never any legit ideas.

It could be track scale, it weighs cars going in and out of the yard.

Sounds exactly like a track scale to me, too.

"Pussey" could be the name of the Scale(?) Manufacturer.

You may want to pose this question in the "More Than Trains" Forum, including an image of that particular section of the yard map, if possible.
