Did anyone see Intermountain's very quiet release of coal cars? http://www.intermountain-railway.com/ Just what N scale needs, huh?
Exactly what you need if you model Candian roads. These cars are used in coal service and dry sulphur service. There are probably over half a dozen schemes that can be done. I'm looking forward to the Sultran scheme they are planning on doing so I can retire my Thrall cars that I now use for bulk sulphur service. grant
All I can say is: I have wanted a unit train of CP Multimark cars since I was a teen! Please, Please, Please make an SD 45 to match.
At $19 US a car that is one expensive unit train. I note their passenger cars are $40.00 US. Very expensive. Even discounted 40% they are still expensive.
Inkaneer, Yep, very. Shhhh, don't tell my girl friends they will think I can aford more than fast food.
It seems as if many of the manufacturer's are releasing coal cars these days. They would look out of sorts on my steam transition era layout.. I have plenty of 33' coal cars. Stay cool and run steam.....
Yep, I'm excited as well. Noted that they have micro trains couplers, metal wheelsets and etched metal parts. 19.00 is about what you'd pay for a MT car, and with the multiple colors, they''re pretty much in line with what everyone else is doing. Not agreeing with it because I'd love to do a unit train as well and that'll be expensive as noted above, but for the quality of IM's cars, 19.00 is about right.
I'm not sure on the metal wheels. They should have MicroTrains trucks and couplers, not Kadee couplers. Kel
these should have an approximate street price of around 14$ per car, so it ain't THAT bad for a very nice looking unit train. Those Trainworx hoppers aren't cheap either and I'm sure they don't look as good as IM's.
According to the IM website, these coal cars will come with metal wheelsets. Stay cool and run steam......
