If Penn Central was accused of having a dull or minimalist livery compared with the somewhat regal garb of her founding roads what would one say about Conrail's efforts in this case....?

    Nice work as usual Steve.........

    Easy to make decals for.:tb-biggrin:
Why not pretend Conrail's use of electrics lasted a few years longer and more got painted in Conrail blue like prototype unit 4800?

Several of the E33's and E44's did receive Conrail blue. GG1 4800 was in a bicentennial scheme for a while though I am not sure how long. gotta love the 70's

    Very nice!

Sadly that PC dip black was no match for the 5 stripers.

That's the thing about early Conrail: it wasn't really a rainbow era. Early BN, by contrast, was incredibly loud. Conrail blue is attractive, but PC was by far the largest of the CR roads, so for the first couple years, patched PC was the most common scheme on CR.

And I actually like the PC scheme - it's no duller than the 60s PRR and NYC schemes. It's the patch jobs that were ugly.

With all due respect I don't want to PO folks but IMO the GG-1 (by any manufacture) is one ugly (let me duck :tb-wink:) locomotive.

I can't help it, I just don't like any of these electric (except in town trollys) locomotives.

    See ya

I'm with you Ron. I have to say it was a mighty big ugly tree it fell out of... and hit every branch on the way down!
And the Conrail bicentennial scheme - no favours there... :tb-err:

Nice job, by the way, Steve. :)

Hey guys, don't be so harsh on such a beautiful locomotive. I want kato to make the PC unit and the Bicenntenial or for that matter any of the paint schemes the gg1 wore. Btw Steve a very nice job on a great locomotive. Now Ron and Brian, you must write "i love gg1's" 1000 times, then you will be forgiven by the SPF's. Btw i don't even model the pennsy but the UP and SF. The gg1 is so nice i just had to have it. So you see i am no spf.

As for those who feel a GG I is ugly? Unto each thy own.

    Beautiful piece of work Steve.
