Figured I start this thread so people can show off their Z scale watercraft (Fred will have a field day!). John

This is an early attempt at a New York State Barge Canal dipper dredge from about ten years ago. These are the only pictures I had of it. Dan S.
Ferry Contra Costa Howdy, Just getting back up to speed on all my projects and wanted to share some photos of the Ferry Contra Costa under construction. The prototype plyed the waters between Benicia and Port Costa just east of the SF Bay Area. At the turn of the century it brought passenger cars, freight and locomotives across the straits between Sacramento and Oakland and points west and south. The ferry model is part of a module being built that will show the Port Costa Facilities used by SP (of course). While the Ferry was gone by the 30's, mine exists until the mid 50's so I can use my Blackwidow Gp's. More soon. The model is laser cut from ply and Laser Board with lots of styrene bits. Joe MTL
While I've been quietly watching this project develop, I have to say that when it is done along with the module, it is going to be the cat's pajamas. And Joe, though you are having fun with this......don't forget those large tugs the guys have ordered.......chop chop
Joe, the ferry is great! I love the size. It will look incredible loaded up! This will be an excellent module. I can't wait to see it progress. Rob
LOREN!!! Shoot me a price on that steam tug and that railbarge w/o that bridge across the bow!! That would be puuuuuurfect for Milwaukee Road set-up!! Heck yes!! mg:
Kurt, That railbarge is not my doing. Only Joe has one of those in the making. Not for sale I'm afraid. Those large tug boats are $20.00. You want one of those?
http://www.shaughey.com/images/PPIE/Ferry_Contra_Costa.jpg Solano Ferry.htm This is what it will look like when finished....long road to hoe. The way I am doing this it is possible to have a few available for sale as kits in the future. The ferry was a side wheel steam paddle boat and had a sister boat, the Solano. The attached site is one of several that shows the boats and the wharfs at Port Costa. I hope to have this module (2x8) wrapped up for the show in Feburary in Richmond Ca...if not, then Sacramento for sure. Joe MTL
