Ztrack Magazine is excited to announce an exclusive two car set of Pittsburgh & Lake Erie freight cars! The cars have been produced specifically for Ztrack by Micro-Trains. The first car is a 50' rib sided box car without roof-walks. The car is jade green with a silver roof. The lettering is white. The second car is 50' fish-belly gondola with scrap load. The car is black with large yellow P&LE logo. The lettering is white.

The set represents cars from the 1976-1992 period when the P&LE was no longer part of the Penn Central (and New York Central prior to that), but was an independently privately owned company. During its lifetime, the P&LE earned the nickname, “The Little Giant”. Though it only operated on 200 miles of track, at one point it moved over 1% of all the nation’s freight traffic. The P&LE owned such an abundance of rolling stock that all of it could not even be stored on its home rails!

Ztrack is now accepting advance reservations for these cars. The cars are expected to arrive on Friday 12/21/07. Shipping of pre-orders will commence immediately. Only 150 sets have been produced. Supplies are limited. Ztrack is selling these sets for $64.50 plus shipping, handling and insurance.

This is Ztrack's second MTL special run this year. The first was our Detroit Toledo & Ironton sets. These sets have been very popular. We do have a few in stock and supplies are limited.

To reserve your P&LE set, please visit Ztrack Center

LOL! Note, I know AZL is not going to hit the January date. I expect we will start seeing these releases in the spring.

Today, Micro-Trains has posted photos of the Ztrack Exclusive P&LE set on their website under the Z Special Run section. I know I am biased, but MTL did an awesome job with these cars! They look dead on. Take a look for yourself:

Today is the day! A large box arrived from Micro-Trains! Nothing is more exciting than opening the box and seeing your special run for the first time. It is a wonderful feeling!

The individual cars come in their own box. Both boxes are shrink wrapped together with a special liner. The car box car carries product number NSC MTL Z07-15. The gondola is NSC MTL Z07-14. The set combined is MTL Z07-16.

The color and look of these cars is perfect! Each car includes details such end reporting marks. The scrap load is comprised of rusted track and rails. It is wonderfully detailed!

I did quite a bit of research into these two cars and Micro-Trains met our requirements. The cars are based on actual prototypes. Two books I used for my research were the P&LE Railroad in Color, volume 1, 1976-1992 by Richard Borkwoski and P&LE Gondola Cars by Jerry Gorzoch, Jack Polaritz and Joe Sparico.

I want to give a special thanks to Micro-Trains for bringing these cars to life! MTL far exceeded my expectations! For all of you who placed pre-orders, we will begin shipping sets out tomorrow. Please note, these cars are available to anyone and not just Ztrack Magazine subscribers.

Cars are available online at: Ztrack Center

Merry Christmas everyone! We received this post last night and I just had to share it:

    12.24.07

Twas the day before Christmas the mailman was late,
but the sense of anticipation was swelling and great.

Then red white and blue stopped swirling in dust,
wishing they were done but the deliveries a must.

As the truck pulled away I ran out to see,
if Cousin Rob and Uncle Will had played Santa for me.

The mailbox door opened and two boxes I spied,
My feet danced with glee as I took them inside.

Then what to my wondering eyes should appear,
but the cars from Full Throttle and Ztrack my dear.

There were Penncentral hoppers, cylindrical treats,
A PLE gon and 50 foot box which could not be beat.

Full Throttle and Ztrack up up and away,
You both deserve thanks for a wonderful day.
