U.P. Empty Coal Hopper Roll By Next we have a U.P. train of empty hoppers passing through Cameo, CO. Ben
Cool! Added extensions on the car side! That D&RGW car with UP heralds in mineral red was a neat catch, too.
Nice stuff Ben. You caught some really neat hoppers there. Kind of partial to the ex BN hopper myself.
Anymore you see a good variety of hoppers on just about every coal train running through here. I am partial to the Grande hoppers myself. Ben
I didn't catch any train action this week but I did take a few pictures of freshly painted signals and track side structures. Union Pacific has been busy painting over the last several weeks between Grand Junction and DeBeque, CO. Signal 4408 Between Clifton & Palisade, CO Signal 4395 in Palisade, CO Freshly Painted Target & Equipment Box in Palisade, CO Finally we spotted an ex Rock Island hopper sitting in the Grand Junction yard. Ben
There's a gang of those ex-Rock ballast cars in Cheyenne... Thanks for sharing the renovation of these classic signals! Apparently, they have some time to serve yet, otherwise, Uncle Pete wouldn't waste the money to repaint them.
Thanks guys! I hope to get out and get some more shots here in the next two weeks. It is nice to see some much need maintenance getting done on the local rails. Ben
I'm working on a little something. My son and I went down towards Delta, CO today and were disappointed not to see a coal train run by. I guess it is all about timing. With any luck I should have some pictures up tomorrow. Any requests for future picture locations? Thanks, Ben
Well yesterday we did not see any trains but we did find a railfans dream location at Bridgeport, CO off of highway 50. Here are some shots of the area: Here is the bridge at the beginning of the trail head. I'm not one for graffiti but you have to like this one "Rio Grande Rocks The Rockies". Ben
A look to the north of the bridge. Looking south towards a small neglected spur that must have been used for MOW operations. Ben
