Wonder you found your way safely back from the photo spot! Great shot, man I really miss that part of the world!
A few local U.P. stories in the news this week. I didn't know that rail grinding could be so eventful. Fire Near Mack, CO Sparks Cause Vehicle Accident Ben
Hmm......a Southwest flight to DIA, then a trip on the CZ to Junction, rent a car, start shooting between Junction and Glenwood Springs, and thru the canyon to Dotsero...........maybe even chase a coalie to Delta and the North Fork coal mines....... Now to convince the missus...............
Ben, that is one whale of a vacation! I'd include the Craig Branch, too. Lots of unknown territory there.
Well here are some shots of U.P. action on the western slope yesterday. First we caught an empty west bound coal train in Clifton: A little latter in the day we caught up to an east bound coal train in Palisade and headed off to Cameo to get a picture or two: Cameo Power Plant: U.P 7169 leads the way: Ben
Next we headed out to Mack, CO to see if we could catch any rail grinding action. We didn't have any luck so we headed back to Grand Junction. We did however find an ex Grande unit sitting with some other U.P. power in the Grand Junction yard. Ben
Ben, Great shots and even better atch on the rio Grande Unit. I don't recognize her. Not either of the units used on the Montrose Branch...
Always a good day, when one sees Aspen Gold. I don't have my roster handy--what unit did 1350 get patched from?
these are great photos I wish my camera was working or i would take some shots off of a shortline but i am not able to replace my camera yet but when i do i will share some snap shots of the UP.
Thanks for all of the compliments guys! I look forward to seeing your images when you get the new camera sir frisco. Ben
I suppose I should have recognized it--after all, it was the last unpatched Geep when I bagged it at North Yard in 2005!
Well this weekend I managed to get a few more shots. Saturday morning started off with catching U.P. 1526 in the G.J. yard. Next we caught some power headed back to G.J. in Palisade, CO. Ben
Sunday's adventures lead us up valley where we found what appears to be a rail grinding MOW train sitting in DeBeque, CO. Ben
