http://www.ebay.com/itm/LIONEL-PREW...299?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35ed1c866b Folks must see all the high asking (not selling) prices on the bait and are dragging garbage out of basements. Again, cost of labour, parts and materials to have something not original..... Opinion. Dave
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lifetime-Tr...315?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43deb9f78b This has to be the absolute highest BIN price I have seen for Lionel. 160 grand. Yeah, lots of stuff, maybe someone, somewhere can afford the lot. Probably better to break it up into "trains", engine/cars/caboose. In this economy, I cannot think of too many folks with that kind of pocket change. Opinion. Dave
"Estimated value". What resource used to price? TCA grading, or? There is listed some nice stuff. But moving it all at once, tough chore. I dislike the use of "collection" as a descriptive. I'd prefer something better, such as accumulation. So many brands, eras, etc, that word just does not fit well.
At least this one is honest about stating "for restore". I've seen some folks grading this condition as C-6 and C-7.
I see "watchers". It would be interesting to know what they have in mind. Curiosity? Or actually doing the work?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/LIONEL-TRAI...166?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item463d5c135e Very Nice. No Comment.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lionel-Post...798?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1a02683e36 "One end has a piece turn off.". And some other issues. If you need a box for an original tender for your stored collection, you'd jump right on this one...right? Right?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-LIO...763?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4880839aa3 Single coupler...came with a pair of staple-end trucks with two operating coil couplers. Nice big chunk missing out of the roof. Frame isn't even stuck under and inside the shell right, much less screws. One ladder gone. I might pay 99 cents if shipping was free, just for the frame with toolbox (I like those), except one toolbox is missing. But why even try to sell something this damaged? Has the light socket...and one pickup roller...and some kind of blue wire jammed through the floor. Opinion. Dave
http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-LIO...347?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item567756d34b Another one. What in the world happened to two end corners? Soldering iron? Pliers? No comment past that. Dave
NICE ORIGINAL PAINT PAINT A LITTLE FADED Ya think? http://www.ebay.com/itm/LIONEL-TRAI...233?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2802f5ae61 Faded with the doors partly open...or dullcoated? Who knows. "This box car is an unpainted ORANGE plastic body that is heat-stamped with WHITE and BLACK lettering." http://www.tandem-associates.com/lionel/lionel_trains_6468-25_box_car.htm Sort of throws out the "faded paint" claim, eh?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/LIONEL-681-...064?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3aad6ed140 Scratch and Dent sale. Funny how they want to sell this stuff for big bucks, and can't even figure out how to get the tender right way around. At least they didn't break up engine and tender. It has been some time since I have seen Lionel steam drivers that filthy (The previous owner was a large collector of Lionel trains and they were all very well taken care of.). two hundred clams, in that condition (needing strip and repaint...do you like the remains of the Keystone?) over double actual value, but that's Opinion. Dave
http://www.ebay.com/itm/LIONEL-POST...954?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4199205fc2 Man. Frame is VERY rusty, even the horn is corroded. Sidefames corrroded. Short hood end pilot and coupler assembly GONE, as in missing. Fuel tank GONE. THIS UNIT IS NOT IN THE GREATEST CONDITION....THIS WILL BE A PROJECT..THE SHELL IS PRETTY BEAT. Rare bit of evilbait honesty? Remember the earlier one about orange shell. You can see the black rubbed through. BIN at $150 including shipping...looks just about right condition for late Milwaukee (poke). For the work involved, glass beading frame after full teardown, repaint, mask and repaint the black, locate the missing end and tank....probably 40 including shipping, but again Opinion. Dave
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1950s-POST-...289?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4aec9298f1 Has the spreader bar, and the common (anymore) wave to the sides. Stirrups are all there, brakewheel there, you would think they'd clean the residue out of the bottom. Has tab couplers (plus!), paint not too bad. Starting bid of ten bucks is exactly what I have paid for these in the past. Add in shipping, I'd pass.....but.... Opinion. Dave
http://www.ebay.com/itm/LIONEL-POST...580?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c53550edc http://www.ebay.com/itm/LIONEL-POST...524?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item463d4d0d1c Nobody would buy his scratch and dent, so he took it apart and is selling the bits to increase PROFITS? Same roofs. Bets we find the trucks listed elsewhere? Ah HA! http://www.ebay.com/itm/LIONEL-POST...900?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item463d4d35a4 So, let's see....BIN of ten bucks each for trucks...that's twenty. Roof is BIN for $6.95, shell (with the rare silhouettes) is $12.95. Let's say 20 the pair. So, for forty bucks, you get to find the frame mounts, roof thumbscrews, to get your own scratch and dent 027 passenger car. Here's the other truck: http://www.ebay.com/itm/LIONEL-POST...020?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item463d4d361c
