Chalks, don't have enough money for an airbrush. Seems to have a lesser learning curve, too. :giggle7yc:
Prototype Photos! More Photos, Proto this time, taken during a tour of Texas Crushed Stone, one of the largest quarries in the U.S., located in Georgetown, TX: Texas Crushed Stone SW1200 #514: Georgetown Rail Road (GRR) SW1500 #9010: Georgetown Rail Road GP20 #9056: Georgetown Rail Road S12 #1007 (Retired): I like the Baldwin S12 the best, but the GP20s a bit of an oddball, too!
Flash has created a album in his new Rail Images gallery of his selection of caboose, here is a link to his album and one of my favorite pics Caboose Album
SNFF 2006 5 12 A couple of shots from the recent Bay Area Prototype Modeler's Meet, taken by me: HO SD45X by Elizabeth Allen: Closeup of HO SD45X dynamic brake area: Some great modeling! This meet was on April 30, 2006, in Fremont, California: http://www.bayareaprototypemodelers.org More pictures from this meet at: http://www.railsaroundthebay.net/modeling/bamp2006/ http://www.bayarearails.net/bapm06/ I completely forgot to take any pictures of my models there. Oh well (smile). Enjoy.
Hemi: That's a "Cheater Boxcar". I'm using a 50' boxcar shell with the frame of a LL GP-20 with the motor. There's also a Lenz 521W decoder inside the shell. I use the "Cheater Boxcar" to help steam loco's move up the long grades of the JJJ&E. There are three "Cheater Boxcars" in the JJJ&E fleet. Stay cool and run steam......
Those are some great models that Elizabth has done. That is what all of us guys need, a woman who can do the trains as good as us guys.!! Well at least I would like to have a lady like that anyway,, secret wish, cant let the wife know about that one.
These photos arn't recent, but as I only just joined this esteemed gathering, most wouldan't have seen them. This is an overview of my logging RR sawmill yard. It's currently little more than a switching layout but it will soon be extended (the mainline is the track with the derelect steamer on it, near the camera) My shay #8 and one of my scratchbuilt log cars. Number 8 is a junker brass shay that I bought from a Sydney hobby shop over 10 years ago. I adapted the superstructure to fit on a Bachmann 3-truck shay chassis. With DCC, it runs beautifully!!
Mathew Roberts, Distinguished Weatherer Great weathering, Matthew. You really have an excellent technique. I like how you follow the seams with the grime and dirt. I agree that weathering with chalks is easy. You can always change it.
Great work and photos guys! I really like to see all the weathering. I also like the boxcar on the gp20 mech. This is about all I will get done this weekend. So I guess that counts as not much. Thanks
Here is an old business car that at one time belonged to Grand Trunk. It started out as an all wood car but was rebuilt with a steel frame and plated sides. We are in the process of restoring it.
an oldie. 3 C&NW SD45's on a freight on Paul's (Colonel) layout... hey... when I go back to school (Petersham) my friday nights will be free!!!
