Don't you just love surprises like this.:tb-biggrin::thumbs_up: Only downside is we have to wait a year to get them.:tb-wink:
Good news? Are you kidding? This is horrible! 3 ABBA sets at ~$100 per loco? That's $1200!! And that's only for the Superfleet! Plus another $700 for the KCS de Mexico and UP GEVO's. That's two thousand bucks next year, and it's still 2010. Good grief, do I look like Warren Buffett here? :bear-wink:
No but the goverment thinks we are all Warren Buffett with continually raising taxes. Oh we have a budget shortfall. No problem, we just have the john Q citizen make up the difference. LOL
I could seriously see myself buying an AB or ABA set of Santa Fe units, for an Intermodal train, then demoting my current set of UP SD40's to coal liner coal train service.
I can see these GP-60 M & B's becoming the premiere units on many a layout, this is what we have needed for along time. fatalxsunrider43
The only other option has been the Overland Brass units at $300.00 each, so this is terrific news for the wallet, get the same basic thing for a third, yes it is metal and plastic, but I bet they will look almost as nice as the Overlands, which are way too much, it crazy to spend $300.00 on one piece ? wow ! I am very happy about this announcement. fatalxsunrider43
Late 2011. That gives me a year to stock up on popcorn. I am sure the FVM bashing will be intense when they are released !!! If the Kato bashing the last few weeks is any indication. This could get ugly !!! I ran outta popcorn after the first few days..:tb-wacky: .
oh wow! This news sure brightened up my weekend! Thank the stars above that Atlas or Kato didn't do these! WTG FVM!!! Woohoo! Mike
Thank You Fatal for pushing the issue!!! My hats off to you! Its too early to think about what to push next! I think 8 B's are in order!! Dave t
Undec would be your best bet, only ATSF/BNSF had them. You're thinking of Con-Cor, they're the ones that do that sort of thing.:tb-wink:
Since I live in south Florida, which is entirely flat land, 4 axle diesels rule the land. It is only recently that we are seeing a lot of six axle diesels now on both CSX and FECRR. Since in my fleet, I own all GP's from 7's through 50's, I know if a 60 came out I would probably spring for one. After all I just bought a lot of used Kato 4 axle GP diesels in mint condition from a LHS who bought an estate. Love 'em all!!!! But today while driving downtown on Dixie Hwy in Boca, which runs parallel just a few feet from the FECRR tracks, I heard a familiar sound, and it was the whistles to their "new" SD70's which they painted yellow and blue (nursery room colors) and they came barrelling by with a large consist of empties back into Miami. I will confess that every time I see these SD's I get an adrenaline rush, and since the first one, I have purchased quite a few of Dash 9's, SD70's, and a U30C. I guess that is where my heart is, or maybe it is just a fling. No matta what, these locos are tremendous, you guys up north just don't know how good you have it. I had a taste when I used to visit my former girlfriend in Black Mountain, NC (outside of Asheville)) which hosted a NS freight every half hour or so right in front of her house, and man oh man did I revel in seeing many of my first big diesels. Moral of the story........enjoy the big diesels and the new "green" stuff. Ken "FloridaBoy" Willaman
No Sir the Espree site shows at least 20 GP 60 assigned to SP alone not to mention SSW that had the majority of them around 75 So with that said and seen I sure would like to see Fox Valley come out with a SP GP 60:tb-biggrin:
Not so say that FVM won't make them later but currently, only GP60M (wide cab/comfort cab?) and GP60B's (no cab) are planned. Neither are correct for the SP. I wonder how much work it will be to stick on an Atlas standard cab for those that aren't worried about miss matched long hood details.
