Here is what I have done this weekend plus a lot of work on the web site. I got the oil rig mounted and the small horse head and fence installed. I also mounted one of the sheds in at Valle Rojo. Mike
Thanks Bob. It may seem like a short time but I have had this layout going for about 8 years now. I am getting to the point of really sprucing up the scenes with even more details and finishing touches. That and bench work are my favorite things. Mike
weekend projects Here are a couple of projects I have been doing this weekend. They are Yesteryear Creations Sawbust Burner Kit # 02 and the Fire Lookout Tower Kit # 05. I need to wash them off and get painting. These are straight forward but are tedious kits and well engineered and fit is really good. Mike
Thanks Bob. I have a place for the fire tower but am trying to decide on the final resting place of the burner. Thanks , Mike
I got the burner out of the paint shop and weathered tonight. The tower is still in need of work. Mike
Mike- That burner looks fantastic! I hope you'll post a shot when you get it installed. -Gary BTW, were these used in the southwest? I'm not trying to be picky, just curious.
I remember seeing these sawdust burners around the old sawmill in McNary Arizona years and years ago. Its been ages since I've been up there. Last I heard almost all remants of the old mill are about gone. .
Yes, I was thinking the higher elevation woodlands were pretty likely. From what I can remember seeing these as a kid (when I was still out west...), Mike has nailed the color.
Gary , There is a very large version in Alamagordo NM and they filmed portions of the Transformers movies there. There are many many in northern NM. They were used at almost all saw mills at some point as the dust was overwhelming. Mike
Here are a couple of quick pictures of the finished Fire Lookout Tower. I am currently ballasting the roundhouse but may get these mounted soon. Mike
Thank You guys , I was not happy with the paint but too lazy to get the media blaster out and start over . I tryed to use a can of olive drab and it went on like a fire hose (crap). the building is actually forrest green but doesnt show in the pic. GOOD NEWS !!! I GOT AN EMAIL NOTICE ON THIS WOOOO WHOOOO!!! Mike
Great work Mike, nice tower, although... I assume the little guy up there is co-ordinating a search and rescue as I don't think many fires will break out with all the snow on the ground. He, He.:tb-wink:
