West Elkwood Yard, Eastside Entrance

Finally, after months of planning, consideration and re-consideration, I've started work on my new, Guilford oriented layout in H0 scale. It's a segmental shelf-layout with a size of 13'78" x 6'89". Unfortunately, the room in my basement doesn't allow more space for it... The first section I worked on is a visible 4 track yard alongside the backwall of the room. All 4 tracks are head-end with a capacity for 8-14 50' freightcars. As I don't have enough space for a "underground" staging yard, I decided to build a yard as as a visible subject of the layout. Inspired by the East Deerfield Yard, MA, of the real thing, my yard will be called "West Elkwood Yard". Except for the long curved turnout at the eastern entrance of the yard (which is a German made Roco Line turnout), all tracks are handlaid stuff from Customtrax.
