As the header suggests: What all would everyone like to see get done other than whats in the pre-order phase at Deluxe? What are we still missing? What would everyone lose to see done? The manufacturers seem to take note! for me: FEC 48' Thrall AP well cars FEC 53' Gunderson AP well cars TTX Trinity 40' 5 unit articulated well cars Tex -tainers!!! what about everyone else?
40 ft Maxi III's 40 ft Maxi I's and the new 40' ribbed 5-well car, I'm not sure who makes it. I can supply photos if anybody is interested! As the railroads realized they carry more 40' containers than anything else, and that most of their Maxi IV and other 53 well cars are carrying too much air, they re-commissioned the previously obsolete Maxi I's and other short-well cars. Alan Curtis offered one, but this is so new, there aren't even decals for a scratch-build project.
The Maxi-I is the big one. One of the most ubiquitous prototype well cars, and the only prototype to actually wear the popular Maersk scheme, which has been inaccurately appropriated by both MDC and Con-Cor. I started working on a kitbash, but it didn't do any good. Better get back on it... William, the new 40' 5-unit car is the Trinity that jsoflo already mentioned, which, btw, also comes in the BNSF swoosh scheme. (Wasn't it the first freight car to wear the swoosh? I like the swoosh on cars, hate it on locos.) Other well cars I'd like to have... Thrall 53' well car. Bethlehem Backpacker cars. There are a ton of container schemes I'd like to see. Some of the most common are: Florens 40' corrugated container (brown), usually seen with Evergreen group Maersk Sealand 40' corrugated container Schneider 53', any of various types Triton 40' corrugated That's not to mention OOP things I'd like to see again. Finally, I'd like to see someone produce a good model of the detachable generators for reefer containers.
Hands down winner.....a JB Hunt 53' Container. Any prototype - Pines, Wabash, Monon - just make a lot of them!
Jagged Ben, good news for you: Deluxe has in one of their flyers that they intend to do the Trinity 53' 3-unit articulated sets, and the April 15 pre-order list has 40' Maersk Sealand corrugated containers, warm up your wallet! On another intermodal group Craig from Deluxe said the 53' Trinity wells are some time away, but apparently they're coming. and yes, that swoosh looks great on the 40' Trinity wells, I can certainly see bashing decals for that one!
An inexpensive model of those "fork lifts" they use to load the cars. I don't know what they are called.
Intermodal Decals Needed: 'Someone' is working on new Intermodal decals for N scale, now... So, Now would be a good time to make those suggestions, while development is underway - Either here or at the N Scale Intermodal Forum - OR BOTH - http://intermodal.gogreenlight.info/user/categories.aspx What schemes for what 'model' do we need ? What era (1960's, 90's, etc.) .... and photos (links, etc). Steven
my wish list 2+2's with containers UPS equipment JB Hunt equipment truck trailer wheels (no probs scratchbuilding the trailer, but my wheels look dodgy and end up in the bin)
I make wheels out of wood on my laser. The spokes are see through, and very delicate. Painted black, they are an exact match for the plastic ones. Pretty! :teeth:
Mine have already been mentioned, but that's ok: UPS trailers! UPS trailers! - JB Hunt trailers & 53' containers - available tank-tainers (I know they're out there, but they are hard to get!) - 89' Triple 28/Twin 45 trailers (both versions) - Maxi 1's
Decals Steven, decals-- Without question for me the need is FEC, my NScaleKits 89' TOFC flats need FEC, and custom kitbashed AP wells, (Thrall and Gunderson) need FEC, & need em' bad! FEC has a massive fleet of intermodal flats and well cars. aside from that I would say Tex-tainer, it'd be an easy one to do myself on an undec.
I would love to see more of the following: -High Cube Reefers 40R96 ("K" Line White/Red would be great) -"K" Line 20' dry container -Tri/Quad/Drop-axle container chassis & flatbeds (I'll build the front porch for my genset :teeth: ) -Affordable Straddle-carrier
I was aware Deluxe was doing the Trinity, but I'd forgotten I'd already pre-ordered the Maersk-Sealand containers. !! The Thrall 53' I mentioned is not the Trinity though, it's yet another 53' well car.
Never happen. The four axle trucks you're after are only run in about 1/3 of the U.S., and many manufacturers of trucks have never seen them. Make My Model makes the wheels ONLY for pretty cheap. http://www.makemymodel.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=28_29&osCsid=45c2e6357ee970c0ef3bc39245d0584f About third pic down.
UPS trailers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Or at least decal for them! I know it's a bunch of license BS, but there are ways to get around that. I've gotten a few of those ebay trailers, but the quality is poor and no lettering. Honestly, I'll be pretty happy when all that Deluxe stuff comes out! I do think we need a 48ft trailer that is available in bunches.
RTR modern 89' TOFC/COFC (Atlas?) with variants like long runner RTR Maxi-I (though I could only use a few. The Boston line uses mostly 48-53 well cars due to single stack height requirments) RTR trailer fork-lift. JB hunt 48 and 53' containers UPS style pups
For all of us seeking UPS (that will probably never be made) the good news is that UPS bought "Overnite" transport, already seeing UPS tractors with Overnite trailers around here, and Athearn made the "overnite" trailers, could be a decent substitute? Another well car we CP rail people need: Gunderson 53' Husky-stacks!!! (non-all purpose)
