    Holy Smokes!

I'm not a big fan of talking about other forums here, but I was sure surprised to see that Atlas pulled the plug on their forum until August.

Besides upgrading, me thinks the powers that be likely needed a rest from all the shenanigans they have to routinely monitor.

So get to the stores now before the panic hits the streets! [IMG] :D

Or you can just sit back and relax here. [IMG]

Hmm, I guess I missed that. They usually announce it first. Maybe they are just having temporary server problems. The shenanigans will continue as before when it comes back whenever. I guess I can go to the Atlas web site and find out.

Yup, just went over to the Atlas Web Page and shore nuff. Welcome all you refugees. :D :D

Hey Geeky, good to see you over here.

Maybe it's just me, but it seems very odd that they gave no warning. It is a little troubling since folks were in the middle of conversations. Pure conjecture on my part, but I have to wonder if it has anything to do with the UP vs. Lionel threads. Paul was a little weird about mention of those. Very uncharacteristic.

I wonder how Tox is going to get the e-mails for his VARR car orders now.

Very unusual they would close for two whole months. Usually it was for two weeks in July. Maybe Mr. Graf got annoyed with the UP vs. Athearn and Lionel htread. That seemed to be getting a little hot last time I checked.

This two might be a cost cutting measure given the economy. My own company put everyone out for awhile last year to cut exspences, they just had a few gone each month. For Atlas maybe it easier to just close shop longer this year for the same reason. [IMG]

    Hang on!

Who said two months? Now, I haven't been on that Forum extensively for a while, so did I miss that announcement? (I could have.)

I certainly didn't miss someone else's presence on another forum.

Here is the message on the Atlas forum"

    "Dear Atlas Forum Members,

We are pleased to announce that we are in the process of upgrading our forum software to give you increased security and better functionality. As a result, the forum will be closed for maintenance, upgrades, and our annual summer vacation until sometime in August.

Thank you for your continued support of Atlas Model Railroad Company and Atlas O, LLC."

Boy, that was fast. And without warning, or at least I missed it.

I have to be honest I am usually over there. Hope you guys won't mind me spending the summer here if that is okay.

I didn't catch the warning either. Tuned in after work and they were gone. I really do appreciate what Atlas does in providing a forum, but at least now I won't feel guilty when I throw bunches of money at Kato for their next TWO n-scale releases. (AC4400CW & SD70M's) [IMG]

Edit: This is intended to be funny, with just a smidge of truth. I love Atlas and there are great modelers on that forum, and I will miss seeing there work. Now, what were my kids names again? ;)

Yup, mostly a lurker at Atlas the last several years, post occasionally when need to....and now with that message of the shut down, I find myself over here. Good to see the familiar names though!

WOW! I was their earlier today and it was up and running. Come home to see whets been posted and closed! There was even a thread someone poser about when they might be closed and Paul G. and the other mods did not even reply to it.

I suspect with some recent threads they finally decided to pull the plug for now and upgrade the software to allow them more Admin options. Actually it’s not a bad time to do it while they are closed. However, I also think they are taking some extra time off form the forum; possibly to sit down and hash out official rule, etc.

I too was surprised that it was closed down without warning - which leads me to believe it was almost a "spontaneous" decision for whatever reason.

Anyways for the new folk here welcome to trainboard.
