Well, guys, I think I have my signature fixed. Will see shortly!

I repeat my comments about Atlas are conjecture. I'm not willing to place a bet on it.

As to a later comment, the dialog between Paul and I was very friendly. I left on good terms, for sure.

    The refugee graphic is excellent!

As I Mod/Admin other boards I have a couple of comments. First I think the Atlas version is so old a standard upgrade probably isn't an option as they rarely go perfect. They could be switching providers and or message board software which sometimes barely can port across user data. If it were such a major upgrade I wouldn't be surprised if they ditched the user DB to prune all the old users. One thing I know they want to stop is the mutiple accounts that many used for cheap shots. Another comment was I was always surprised that Atlas board had no moderators only admins which although keeps it in the company makes the burden much greater on their duties. I will wait and see like everyone. I do think the attitude of many on the Atlas board has soured me on it and I think it has for Atlas as well. I don't remember a period in the years I have been on with as many bannings, leavings and warnings. Personally I think if never opened again I would understand. Don't blame Atlas but blame the posters who drove others away and couldn't follow simple rules. I like trains and the discussion of modelling them. For me the forum turned into a whine fest with the same old ones repeated weekly if not daily. I really won't miss that much at all.

I know, that as a member of the Atlas forum, I rarely posted, mostly because of the attitudes I ran across. I just never felt comfortable.

I've been a member here at TrainBoard for a long time, and have always felt welcome. Now that we have DSL, the slow loading isn't a problem. Keep up the good work!

Thank-you! As the TB motto goes:

"Give us your tired, your overworked,
Your huddled modelers yearning to be free....."

"Whatever it was that caused the demise of the forum it had to be something immediate and sudden"
How big this statement may become!

Forum is good for a couple of things to Atlas.

1st: Feedback on future and past models that either they or their competition have made or are going to make.

2nd: Interest in types of models, roadnames and schemes that they may consider doing.

3rd: Keeping their name in the forefront of as many modelers as possible.

The question... which UP_Modeler somewhat answered to (on Gamers Forum} ... is Atlas getting the "bang for the buck" that is required to maintain the Atlas Forum? Are too many resources being used to monitor its use to the point where real MONEY MAKING work is suffering?

Howdy all. I was a member here, before going over the atlas forum. I too, am disapointed with atlas in not giving a warning. What ever happens, they improve, they close. my life will go on. If they do choose to close, they owe every forum member a written letter as explaining to the reason why.

For the life of me, I can not figure out why from key stroke to the actaull letter appearing on screen takes a long time.. The first paragraph, took over 31 seconds to appear on screen. well beforei get frustrated, I am going to go relax, adios wyatt

I must tell you from my perspective, I hope this will not become the Atlas forum. In the last few months many of the topics on Atlas got way off base and had more to do with egos and not trains. That's why I think Atlas decided enough was enough and will keep it shut down.

To me, model railroads are a form of relaxation, if I want flame wars and back stabbing I could say at work. I really hope the moderators of this board keep people on topic and in line.

And I agree, I am really glad Jerry is here.

sitchad, I think what BandMguy was trying to say was that so many familiar faces (names) from the Atlas Forum are showing up here that it is like "becoming the Atlas Forum".

I think most will agree that there were problems there.

The difference here is that this board is run by people who want to run a board. They spend a primary amount of time doing it. With Atlas, it was a secondary (tertiary) duty for their employees. I'd be willing to bet it was taking too much time.

I doubt it will be back, personally, but it sure would be great if some of the Atlas people participated here, wouldn't it? Kind of like Marty from InterMountain being on the Atlas board. I'd like to see Paul, Rob, Marty, Charlie, etc., all participate here.

As just one of the many all volunteer Moderators here on TrainBoard we welcome all of you here and hope this will become your #1 Railroad forum for both Modeling and Railfan topics. Between now and August make this your home away from home and I hope we will prove this is the place to stay. [IMG]

As keystonecrossings pointed too, those of us that are Moderators here at TrainBoard we are here becuase we want to be here. This means we will make sure this is the place to be for topics related to that forum.

If you want to go off topic come to the Cattle Car forum where fellow TrainBoard members talk and joke about non-railroad hobby topics there. A few of us there have been recently talking about Arean Football and many other non-railroad topics just to shoot the "Bull" with friends.

Jerry, welcome to you and all the other new members from the Atlas Forum.
You mentioned it would be nice to see certain other people here. If you'd like, feel free to invite them to join us. I'm sure they would enjoy being a part of the TB family.

This is my home away from home... as I generally go back to the Atlas Forum when it is up an running.. . meanning no disrespect to Trainboard or any other board I visit from time to time. The A-board seems to have my captured my interest because it Is sponsored by a model railroad company FWIW.
