Absent Cabooses...Sad! Jerry, Those were the best days. May I echo your sentiment? I miss them dearly. You'd of thunk, what with Homeland Security and all, the railroads would have brought them back. Steve, I'm not sure you'd of been able to remember a lot about the Santa Fe. Most of it was pretty much cannibalized by the BNSF when you arrived on the scene. But, I know the feeling. I grew up in a family of Santa Fe rails. I can share your regrets...knowing the Santa Fe and understanding it through their eyes. All I have today are similar to 35mm slides or single snapshots. Add on: A bonus of sorts. I found this picture in my files and it's not mine. I'm using it for illustration purposes only. Taken at the West End of the "Old" Barstow Yard. Note, the numbering has moved down from the cupola (that spelling can't be right) to the vestibule of the caboose. Be safe!
What a difference it makes to have the generator painted. Your caboose looks good bringing up the rear. I'm envious of the ATSF employee hanging out the window. .
I hope my caboose trucks get here before too long so I can finish up the other one. Then I will be looking forward to seeing Bobs kits.
Finally got the Caboose trucks thanks to the train show on the 570. Also painted the railings, and added the cut levers. Still need to add the red marker lights.
I really like how these turned out. They are going to look great following piggybacks through Franklin Canyon. Still want to do more, including some with the black roofs. Looking forward to Bobs brass caboose kits.
Jerry They look great. You should do an article for NSR or Nscale. Also, where did you get the PE generator pulley?
