The AWRR layout has relocated from a shed to the loft space in the house. This will allow a long run also a continuous run, plus good staging sidings. Some pictures of the layout after the move.
All looks the same as before, but here is a shot showing how it fits into the outer part of the roof space, leaving the centre clear.
This is the end of the layout which was against a wall. The curved track to the left went to a small staging yard (2 tracks). It will now go straight on and around the whole roof space to form a continuous run. In the run will be a number of staging/storage tracks. The track to the right will become a branch (rather longer than previously!).
Here is another shot of the same board with the tracks removed and the realigned track laid roughly in place. This track will seperate from the branch and go to seperate sidings. Another scenicked board will be fitted to the end, before the 'off-stage' trackage starts.
The new sections of track in place and awaiting ballasting. I replaced the whole coal/oil siding and lengthened it a bit.
I reconnected the power and wiring and tested the trackage and it works fine Now to get on with the new boards and staging tracks, before returning to the scenery and structures.
Have you sketched out an idea of how the expanded layout will look? And how much trouble are all those 2x4s I see in the front of the layout going to be? It's good you have extra space now to expand- looks like the AW survived the move relatively well.
That must have been a little excercise. Your access to the new space is apparently a decent sized doorway? Sure couldn't squeeze like this into my attic! So, when do we see the proposed extended track plan? Boxcab E50
The layout was moved in only two sections, and the boards are very lightweight I will be sketching out a track plan as soon as I have decided what it will look like The roof trusses are no problem at all, they may just restrict photo angles very slightly, but in using the layout I stand between them and they are not in the line of sight
