These are going to be the 23,000 capacity cars. There will be an interesting selection of paint schemes on these. AZL has many options. Rob
I am interested in a D&RGW Challenger, but, would be concerned over the engines ability to pull very much particularly up grades. The comment regarding only one set of powered drivers would make me a bit leery of buying one. Since I don't have an AC12 to comment on the pulling ability, I'd need some responses from those who have one. Was a lack of one set of drivers not being powered the AC12 an issue with pulling power? There's no guarantee that having BOTH sets of drivers powered will do much more, but, the logic would seem to indicate better traction. Your comments would be appreciated and may finalize a decision to buy or not.
I have tested AZL's AC12 and found they can easily pull 30+ cars (mix MTL, Pennzee and Full Throttle). This was on a level grade. Having the 2nd set of drivers powered would be nice, but there would have been a significant price increase to do so. I think AZL made the right compromise to power only one set of drivers in order to keep the cost down. As for the Challenger, I am not sure if AZL has made a decision to power both sets or not. I have not doubt Z scalers will be happy with the Challengers if they perform like the AC12s which are very smooth locos. Rob
Here are some new pictures from the prototpyes that Hans showed us in Oslo. The Details are still a bit crude but remember those are just prototypes. The high Cube and the Autoracks are my favorits!
PS: Here is some more pictures from the Train Show in Oslo that I took. http://www.zmod.no/Treff-Moter/Z-Skala-treff-12-13april2008/index.htm
