Dieselization on the C&O was officially completed on Sept. 28, 1956. The Pere Marquette District was officially dieselized in 1952. The last active steam locomotive on the PM was taken out of service on Dec. 31, 1951.
Not quite a normal clearance. Wish I could find a train order form this station. I have one from an interurban that ran there. Oh well. Cottage Grove, Indiana: Boxcab E50
OK, C&O fans here's one for you- Where is this office??? It's in Virginia. But where? I do find Craigsville on a map. Could it be within the city limits, of a town by another name? Perhaps in Staunton? Cowan, Virginia: Boxcab E50
Oops? Has everyone left the building? Still hoping someone will know an answer to my question about Cowan. Croswell, Michigan: Boxcab E50
I'm stumped on the exact location of Cowan - I thought it was in southwest Virginia, somewhere near Pulaski in Pulaski County. Craigsville is up north farther in Augusta County - it's on the map.
Cowan Virginia - It's between Belspring and Radford VA. You take State Road 11 north out of Radford to Fairlawn - go right on 114 (Peppers Ferry Blvd.) - then turn left (north) on Belspring Road - takes you to Cowan. I got this info with help from a nice lady who works for the town of Pulaski!
So is Cowan actually a civilian settlement? Or a railroad location, which happened to be placed away from most other places? Boxcab E50
OK. Here's another question! Is this the same location as Dante? Where someone has simply appended the word Yard? Or, were Dante, and Dante Yard actually two seperate offices in that town? Boxcab E50
