Function button 9 turns the 2 or 3 short whistles to signify direction change. All automatic when you push the direction button. I have the ESU programmer (and that is why I got the ESU decoders) and backed up all the CV's from the decoder.
All the sounds are the ones that came on the decoder. I'm just trying to figure out how to turn of the coal shoveling sound - 3981 is an oil burner!

It should be very nice to have smoke also, but when I checked some time ago, I could not find a generator that was small enough. I have seen a Z-scale Märklin lok some years ago with smoke, but I don't know what type of smokegenerator they used. Any of you know about any? Seuthe has one for N-scale, but I guess this is to big.
