One of my very first attempts to make a car other than a commercial purchase was a D&H boxcar. The car is brush painted and has Micro Scale decals. I just added the Bragdon chalks weathering. I don't know if it is prototypically accurate, but it is one of the favorite cars on my otherwise Espee layout.

It's not a faulty memory boxcabE50, you have to remember that these things have been around for twenty years now. If BLW did one, it was probably before I started doing business with them. I wouldn"t doubt it though. Frank

I don't have a record of this (not saying there wasn't by any means); but, I know they did one in HO that I have in my collection.

Glad to see my boxcar was pretty close! [IMG]

Interesting to me that the D&H seems to display the capacity data in a linear fashion below the reporting marks.

Not always though, so if Modeling Matters to you then check out each format by road number as things vary between each series.

I bashed some old C420 shells onto Atlas/Kato U25B drives, the truck spacing is off but they run great.

Stourbridge Lion and all, I want to thank you for sharing your D&H items. I grew up in D&H country. Other than the local NYC branch, the D&H was my first real railroad. Spent a lot of time around Oneonta. The railroad of course began its decline in the late sixties. I began serious railfanning in the early seventies. Got to see the LV runthroughs, and the EL?/D&H TOFC trains. Even saw the Binghamton to Sayre run a couple of times. Just moved back and am working in Oneonta. What a depressing picture. More traffic than the late seventies, but CP's lack of interest in the line shows in the endless parade of antique SD's. The car shops are closed, the yard is pretty much gone. Rumor has NS buying the line. They show up with stack trains behind modern power. If so, I hope they actually do something with the railroad. Frank

A buddy of mine is from upstate NY, and has modeled a bunch of D&H stuff, namely the chopnosed RS3's. I think he has the entire D&H's roster of them now... I met him in, of all places--Minot, ND!

    Frank/All,

I'm glad you are enjoy this topic and I will likely start up another one in HO later as I have much more HO than N in my collection.

    Hemi,

Get your buddy to put his collection online and join the D&H Site Ring. I maintain that ring so fans of the D&H can find other D&H sites faster.

The D&H is the oldest of them all in North America and via the DHVM I will not let it fade away as long as I still have "steam" to keep my engine running.

Darren, I wish I had a miniature Richmond Hill to run these up. I also wish I had an optical zoom so these would be in focus. [IMG]

At least yours are operating on a track where as mine are sitting on their side on a scanner or sitting idle in a tub wait again for that day when I can once again build a home layout.

Consider yourself lucky Darren. Many of us have just a couple cars and no motive power or passenger cars or cabooses made in our lines.

    nice collection so far.

My D&H model collection today is 250 strong so you are only seeing a few highlights within this topic. The rest can be viewed via my DHVM Web site. My collection is also a Who's Who in MFG Companies that have taken the time to make a D&H model of one scale or another. They are all not accurate but are painted as they would have klikely been if they had existed

My goal via the website, here at TrainBoard, etc. is to help people remember the D&H since this is where Railroading all began in the USA starting back in 1823 (D&H CC) to the first engine to ever operate in North America, the Stourbridge Lion and still operates today with the help of CP.

If you don't have a D&H in your collection, get one... [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
