Gotta be the BIG Alco's fellas. Nothing like the blast of exaust from a big C636 in the face!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As someone pointed out early in the thread, Conrail had such a diverse fleet, it is hard to pick out a favorite! I was digging around in my "archives" and was surprised to find that I had more CR photos than I had remembered. I'll will try and scan and upload some next weekend. I like the older, smaller diesels. GP30 is probably my favorite. GP35's, RS3's, and the small SW9 switchers. I model in N scale. From 1976 to 1980. Many diesels and paint schemes to choose from.

First time for me on Trainboard. The C40-8W is still the one I enjoy most. Big brutish and with the chugging FDL engine, always a welcome sight when I'm railfanning. I'll be in Enola tomorrow; hope to catch a few still in their blue coats. GG1
Welcome aboard GG1! Thanks for joining us in the Conrail forum. Don't forget to check out all of the other interesting forums on TrainBoard. Yes, the CR CW40-8's are interesting locos, especially in the CR blue. Catch 'em while you can Let us know what you see in Enola; pictures are always appreciated, but a narrative is good too Harold ------------------ Harold Hodnett Fan of NS, CSX, and their predecessors!
