Robert, check out the November 2004 issue of Railroad Modeller. It shows all the difference between the SD70 ace. It is the same issue has the Jeffrey MacHan article. John
John, Thanks for the reminder. I was looking for that issue of MR and now I realize it's in the pile of magazines with Z scale articles (short pile) instead of with the rest of my MR's. Randy
NEEEEEVVVVVEEEEERRRR I am still building up my nscale mini empire I am sure that I will dabble some day with Z. I even have plans someday of G scale (for outside of course)
I don't have a firm number, but it will not be a limited run. AZL is working on building a line of injection models to keep in their catalog. It will not be like their brass offerings. AZL is moving to create two lines, one 'premier' line of brass and the other line of injection locomotives and rolling stock. The goal it to have something for everyone! It is going to be exciting! Rob
Yeah... Despite its number, the SD70ACe looks a lot more like an SD80/90MAC with a different cab. Maybe that set of models could share parts, but we don't yet have any of them in Z.
We have a new photo of the pre-production SD70M. Note the lower chassis detail and trucks. It looks great! Rob Kluz
Hi Rob, Do you have any idea on the pulling power of your AZL - SD70? How many cars can it pull up a 2% grade? And are all six axels powered with traction to the rail? <AZL is moving to create two lines, one 'premier' line of brass and the other line of injection locomotives and rolling stock. The goal it to have something for everyone! > This is really good news, Rob. Thanks Tsa
No comment on the locomotive in the back ground.... Don't look too closely at the cab of the rear locomotive.... As for performance, it is still too early to report numbers. I do not have samples to test. The photos are from AZL. I do know AZL was working on trying to get more weight into the locomotives to increase pulling power. Rob
hmmmm ? could be a SD70 ? (w/o I, M or MAC) [ January 07, 2006, 03:59 PM: Message edited by: nscalesteve ]
Rob ? the AZL lokis will they be available only from ztrack or from any model train shop ? (so I could order them from my friend Chuck @ Feather River Trains ?) will they also be available as undecorated ?
And as you can guess, SD-60 is what I'm painting mine as when I give them the BN treatment. I don't care for the BN SD-70 paintscheme at all, so white nose SD-60M's is what I'm looking for! I can't wait till I get mine! -Robert
AZL locomotives and cars will be available direct to Ztrack subscribers for a limited period of time. If you are not a subscriber, they will be available through any of our authorized dealers. A listing can be found at: http://www.ztrack.com/AZL/AZLdealers.html If you have a local dealer that you like to work through, have them contact us and we can set them up as an AZL dealer very easily. Good call on the not a wide cab. I would say it is more 'standard'. Rob
Hmmm. I typed SD75 all the while thinking SD70 "standard" cab. I feel somewhat embarrassed You guys believe me don't ya?! Hey Rob, any idea or guestimate on when the SD70 "Standard" cabs may be following the first release?
Standard cabs? Don't know what you are talking about. Sorry, never heard of them. I wan't even there. No comment. And that's my official stance.
