The day before I went, the low temp for the day was about -5 or so, with a high of about 10-15. The day I hiked in, the high was 46, and the low was 30. The wind was wicked, though!

Not at all unusual. Remember that GF holds a national record for a 100 degree downswing in one day....

Yikes! I'm glad we went to sample the snowy shots when we did; the snow is all but gone today. :(
Now, it's back to dreary, dead, brown everything.

    Good stuff, Russ!
I found this area only from a Google Earth search.
The last shot is (looking north) Belt Creek Trestle; Belt Creek Tunnel 5 is to the east, and Red Coulee Tunnel 6 is west. More photos of this area are posted previously. Someday, I'll get some broadside shots of the trestles, from some railfan angles.

    two mule- Welcome to TrainBoard!

Still there.... Is anyone using it these days? I can't read the sign at right. Am wondering if it's a for sale? Or?

    Any other photos?

If you've other photos, and would share them, sounds like fun to me!

For photo width, if you look at the column, compared to the photo, you'll see it nudges things out a bit wider. If you could keep them to 700 pixels wide, that would be great. Doesn't bother me any. But some folks have different screens. And might need to scroll side to side. It happens now and then.

Nice! Thanks fo the new view!

I was thinking about a small settlement such as Roy. Usually there are a few rallying points. The school(s), church, and a possible local landmark. This depot would be an excellent centerpiece. A way to focus community pride. That area will be growing in population. Sooner than they'd like to believe. Now is the time.

Wow! Where is Roy, MT? Is it east of Lewistown, on the end of the branch, or out near Agawam, (past Great Falls) on the other end of the branch?

Correct me if I'm wrong Boxcab, but the line went N from Lewistown, to Hilger, where the line split, one going NE to Roy, the other continuing N to Winifred, Denton and ending at Geraldine or did it continue to Great Falls or elsewhere?

The line headed west to Geraldine is the same line thru Belt Creek area, and terminated in Agawam, past Great Falls. I guess that's out near Valier?

Thank you so much for your pictures of the Red Coulee area. They are truly awesome and they inspired me.
