What a great looking engine. They are one of my favorite to look at but I don't like them as leaders, they are great (and the GP60/B's) as trailing units. Keep us posted, your work looks great. Kevin
Lift Rings at the rear and side. These were some extras I had off a Gold Metal Models Diesel detailing set.
At front, the sunshades and radio antenna, as well as the nose grab irons were added. The sunshades are BLMA #74. The radio antenna are BLMA #92. The small nose grab on the front is BLMA 15" grabs, and the ones on the side of the nose are off of BLMA's Ultimate F/E Unit set, #99.
Another look at the front end. William wants one leader and two trailing, with the sunshades down, so after painting I will careful bend two of the units shades down.
Jerry, I'm sure William wants those engines well broken in.:tb-biggrin: A couple of sessions on my layout ought to get them ready for him!:tb-smile: At the rate you are going, they should be ready by the 2nd Sat. of Oct. The engines are looking great! Hope I get the chance to see them in person before you ship them off! Glenn
It's reassuring to see them looking so cool with the details added. Great work Jerry. Were you going to do the drop grabs on the nose and rear? I can't wait to see them complete either. I'm still waiting for my next check to order my detail parts. I spent most of my last check on a DVD cam to record the 844. Oh yeah, that was greatness.
Question for everyone: Is that a good idea? The three will always run together, and I notice most trailing units have their shades down...
BNSF engineers like the shades down on all trailing units. They don't want anything obstructing their rearward vision. Should know as had to go drop them more than a few times as a conductor. Are Craigs bendable w/o breaking? Wish he had more HO loco detail parts. You listening Craig? <G> Andy Jackson
I can't believe I'm even suggesting this, but... have you seen those in H2? Yes the warbonnets are awesome, but I think that H2 scheme looks nice too... for one of them anyways. I can't wait for you to finish them, as soon as enough of them get built from kits Atlas is bound to release them for the rest of us
It takes about 6 bends back and forth to get them to break. Same for the ones made by Gold Medal Models. I know from experience because I accidently added sunshades to a Conrail Dash 8 that shouldn't have had them. I didn't want to just yank them out because it would have left the holes, so I broke the window shades off instead. They are very sturdy pieces. Brian
