No. But now that you mention it, I'm going to make an effort to do so. (Can I change my vote later?) I've been in a real modeling slump lately. I don't think I've touched the layout in months. I've been thinking lately that I need to at least make an effort to run trains once in a while to see if I can get myself motivated to move ahead with the layout. Maybe this post will be the impetus I need. Regards Ed
Mine are boxed and ready to move when our new home is finished. I hope to be able to say "Yes" sometime this Summer.
Well, it's like this. I am currently building a layout. A work in progress...as some of you are aware. I had the layout wired up through a central junction so I could test run some trains. Steve and I operated trains during the last two weekends, two sessions worth. Does that count? Now it's time to put in the control panels and as most of you know that doesn't happen overnight. I hate it when I change my mind and decide to change ... from the original plan. The ticker keeps me slowed down to a crawl so operating trains isn't going to happen for the rest of the week and possibly on into next week. Besides, I am cheap and I am trying to utilize two older control panels off my original HO layout I had as a teenager and a newer one of my dad's old layout. It's not working as I ended up replacing most of the DPDT toggles. Major slow down. I do have the mainline wired in and that took four days to complete. Why, you ask...? In a difficult spot to get to, under the train table, I had mistakenly wired the uphill track to the downhill track and for the life of me...even though I was looking right at it...mentally I didn't connect. It took mapping and diagramming the wiring and track in order to finally see it. Fixed now...! I did operate some test trains over the main, to be sure everything was wired in and it works great. Running trains...today? Maybe a test engine or two. I am guessing...soon...and for me that is in two weeks. I hope. I have no idea what is meant by "Acid Test". You could have said, "Separates the men from the boys" and that would be just as vague. So, what's up? Why you asking, man? Ahh, I know to spur me on...right?
NO, I can't. I've removed three sections of Westport yard. I've got the 90' Walthers turntable and have to install it. Then - I will run trains again. Wolfgang
No Not yet but wait here is the throttle, throw the switch, rotate this knob and away she goes, thanks for the reminder Joe.
I haven't been able to run trains on my 4x8 for a few months. My layouts on the ceiling. When finals are over I'll get about four weeks for winter break and I'll get it down. I have a new bridge that I built that I want to swap with an old one.
I ran my Metrolink on my Christmas tabletop oval At the moment, it's the only functioning layout I have
I've always run the JJJ&E for at least an hour every day for the past seven plus years. That excludes time for vacations. Thats why I never had any problems with any part of the system. For those that don't run trains on a layout even occasionally, you can't maintain a layout without a myriad of problems. Stay cool and run steam.....
Okay, I did it. I went and spent some time trying to run in a new steam locomotive. Now, where did I leave that Bright Boy? Thanks for the push. Please note that the poll is now 2 votes off (1 too many in 'No', 1 too few in 'Yes'). Ed
No but that was yesterday, and I did not run trains on the layout. I did think about it but I have been busy installing lights and other details in my diesel house. Maybe later tonight 12/15/06, it's fun being in a diferent time zone to North America, Ha Ha! Oh BTW look at the date you have the year 2007. So anyone who answer yes is a time traveller. He He.
