As Paul said, there have been many changes over the years and I rarely liked any of them at first, but after a while I could not remember what the previous one(s) were like! So in short, we can get used to the current version eventually. (Don't like the typeface though)
I like it so far. Page loading is a lot faster than before. Granted, there is room for improvement (like better separation between posts), but as has been stated here, there's a learning curve because of the new board software. Give the guys a chance to work out the kinks, to learn the ropes, and soon we'll all be running in Run 8 and belching smoke like a proper Alco!
And I thought I was a luddite (my layout is still DC). It's not like we have to learn Calculous to use the forum. Doug
I learned long ago that whether one likes it or not, things are going to change. I like the appearance, but am going to have to educate myself on finding the latest posts in forums that I track and/or moderate. How soon we forget, I used to automatically go to a selection (now can't remember what it said) that gave me a list of all the latest in those forums. Anyway, for now I will use "New Posts" and it seems to work for me.
All Y'All Please have Patience. Unless you are willing to be the manager and make the TrainBoard run like a Swiss Watch, please cut Charlie some slack. Charlie started this Forum, he maintains it with NO compensation just so you guys can talk with each other, learn new stuff, and show off what neat stuff you have done....and he's done this for almost 15 years. OK, off my opinionated, screwed up soapbox.
Actually Charlie commented a few weeks back that we'd slipped right on past the fifteenth anniversary. We're now almost to fifteen and one half years! That's how heavy his work and home life schedule has been.
I don't really see a change other than able to like a post (I use tapatalk for trainboard) extremely happy its back! Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk
Thank you for those kind words. Folks, I am a working a lot of extra hours this week. I desperately want to spend a lot of time on the *new* TrainBoard, however, my work schedule is making it hard. I will probably work more than 30 hours of overtime this week. Every spare minute that I have will be spent working on the site, but it will take time to get all the bugs worked out. In the meantime, the other staff members will listen to your comments and concerns and try to help you with any issues. Stay with us. We will be moving forward. Charlie
What are ya using for glasses? That may be part of my problem. I swear, I cannot see the borders unless I look away, and can make out a faint blue line...but when I look at it directly, it ain't there. I have some shooting glasses somewhere, that might be the ticket.
I'm very happy with the look of the new software. Uploading software to make TB work takes alot of effort and much patience. It can't be accomplished overnight. Just be happy that TB is up and running. The basic program is working and all the additions in the future should enhance the look of TB. Shades
I use Tapatalk, so I didn't notice much of a difference. Now that I have logged on in a browser, I see that it is a lot better. I like that the profile settings are easier to understand and change. Embedding images is a whole lot easier. All in all, the whole site is easier on these old eyes and I appreciate the work that was done.
New TB seems a lot more smoother, sleeker, faster, so I like it! Hope to see the added features soon.
