Welcome back everyone to the gateway to the weekend! I apologize for the lack on a Monday WMA thread, My flight from Denver to California was an early one and from the time of getting up at 3:30 until landing in California and completing all that needed to be done once there, I never had a chance to get near the computer. With that being said, let's see what everyone has planned for the weekend.

Friday: After 3 months of long days, required weekends, culminating with the Rocky Mountain Train show and the annual Athearn Business meeting, I can finally take a deep breath and relax. I'm taking today off to perform a tradition that goes back close to 20 years, Good Friday, Great Railfanning. I'll be leaving here in a few hours to go railfanning with my good friend Brian on the former Santa Fe Transcon from Toluca to Galesburg Illinois. This will be a great way to relax and enjoy some down time.

Saturday: Depending if I get my order from Rocky Mountain Train Supply will determine which project I will work on. If the order comes in, I will devote my time to the NTrak module. If not, it will be the N scale layout. This of course will be after I sleep in and brew up some coffee. It is also supposed to be warm as well so the Falcon and Motorcycle may receive some attention as well.

Sunday EASTER: Hard to believe but yes, it is Easter Sunday. No big plans other than to have Ang's Grandma and Father over for a small celebration. It will be a nice relaxing day before going back to work on Monday.

So how about you? Feel free to let us know what you accomplished last weekend as well as what you planned to do this weekend. We'll assemble once again on Monday, April 10th to see how we did. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe and...

    HAPPY EASTER!
    &
    High Greens!

    Happy Good Friday to Y'all

This will be another little to no MRRing for me.

Saturday: Getting photos taken for a European drivers permit. For our upcoming trip to Austria (Next month) - After the photos, I hope to go to AAA for the said permit. After that -- we'll see. Perhaps, I will get some work bench time.

Sunday: -- Easter. Our Daughter, Son-in-Law and Granddaughter will be coming over for a little Easter gathering.

Y'all have a great Easter, Stay safe!!

Not too much planned for this weekend. I’ve got to do a few things to get ready for the move back to the US but once that’s complete I’ll try and weather a tank car or two.

Good job Jim. I saw your booth in a podcast. "What's Neat this Week in Model Railroading" (PC #229 or thereabouts). Also read about the show snooping around the web. Bravo.

3 day weekend here. Although I still technically work 12 to 20 hours a week consulting to the "firm", I won't be getting calls today. All modeling today and tomorrow, all indoors as we are to get pounded w/ rain for the next 48 hours. Easter Sunday will be nice here and I am grilling Easter dinner for 4 or 5 people (several racks of St. Louis ribs). As for modeling this weekend. Last weekend I got the tanks painted for the Afton Fuel & Oil facility, plus I got the parts painted for the loading rack. I am building the loading rack to serve as intake from the tank cars and supply to the trucks. May not be "exactly" prototypical, but compression is sometimes necessary.

Here are the tanks "sited". Hopefully I'll have most of the pipe rack done by Saturday at dinner when I have to stop. Between Mass Sunday AM and grilling during the day, won't be much modeling Sunday.

A very peaceful and happy Easter holiday to you and your loved ones.

This weekend is going to be cool, so outside stuff will be limited. I may pull the heater from the fishpond. I have a bunch of laundry to catch up on. It is amazing how much laundry a sick person can generate. My wife spent a couple of days in bed due to her doctors playing with her medications. Not sure what they were trying to accomplish other than putting her in pain and making her extremely less active, which is not good for a diabetic. After several days of torture, she is right back where she was with her medication before they started playing around with it. My daughter says she is going to wash the dog so I know I will get dragged into that fiasco. We have to make a run to Kohl’s to drop off some Amazon returns. Easter will be our usual small dinner of my wife, daughter, son, and I.

I want to continue cleaning and organizing the workbench and the storage table. I have recent supplies I got from Micro-Mark I need to put away. I should continue working on the walls for the Morgan House. I have some rolling stock that needs to be checked and put away. I have work to do around the Union Station building. I could even try to do a couple more DCC installs. Lastly, I want to run some trains.

    Happy Easter.

Good morning from partly sunny and cool Northeast Ohio, at least we don't have snow (as per usual) for the Cleveland Guardians Opening Day.

Bowling is done on Friday night so I hope to paint some cars that I have ready for painting. And since the State Bowling Tournament is off due to the Easter Weekend, I may get some decaling and construction work done, one of which is to complete the GATC 4500 CF Covered Hopper kit. We may go to Toledo for Easter day, but that will be determined by how my wife feels after getting her shot in the eye to help forestall the Macular Degeneration.

Good Good Friday morning to you all,

Today we have an annual checkup for one of our cats. On Saturday morning I will be meeting a couple of other members of our Ntrak club where we keep our trailer stored and to retrieve a corner module so another member can re-do the 30 year old scenery. This of course all depended on weather but right now there is no rain in the forecast. Over this weekend I also plan to get out all of my Japanese trains, clean wheels, and run on my small DC test track. Then decide which ones I'll take to next weeks exhibit. Besides that I have the usual household chores to attend too.

Everyone have a great weekend whatever you are doing.

@Jim Wiggin, you were missed. Pics for permit. Hmmm. FYI, I hate moving. The tanks look cool! @Tompm, I sure hope the Mrs. gets back on even keel soon. (Did someone say "laundry"? :cautious:) Always good to run trains. (y) Did someone say, "covered hopper"? :p (I hope Mrs. dti406's treatment turns out well.) Cat maintenance is important. Reminds me. The new upstairs neighbor has a cat. I believe it is writing a book. The title: My Life as a Cat. Thirty-year-old scenery! Maybe a record? At this point on the three-locomotive project, the running gear is ready to receive side-frames with wheels. I just cut out tender side stock for tender making. All in all, fairly good progress. :sneaky: Saturday should see some as well I think. I hope everybody has a great Easter. :D

track planning...I am seriously considering scrapping the current Playa Desnuda and rebuilding on a foam core base with 4'* modules filling up the wall...

*one will be about 4'3" due to the length of the wall

I had planned on completing my GS1 tender project this weekend BUT on Tuesday I was fertilizing my roses when I fell on my right hip, lucky nothing cracked or broken. HOWEVER, my right forearm, wrist, and hand did not escape. Nothing broken in the hand but I will not be doing any detail work for some time. BTW, nothing broken but all hurts like heck.

After adding ground throws to my switching area build I fired up the DCC. I had some fine tuning to do on points and frogs. A couple frog issues were simple stray solder spots while the curved turnout gave me fits. Turned out to be the leading and trailing axle on the six axle locos were crossing the gap on the stock rails beyond the points. So I will be replacing and extending the frogs on four curved turnouts. Once finished I should be able to do some switching if desired.

In addition to the Fontana area I will move on to the upper shelf staging area down the opposite wall.

Model Railroading is fun, once all the planning and problem solving is done.

    Feel better soon Carl!

So many plans, so little time! Things on my to-do list, in no particular order:

    1. I made some saplings to go with the big pines on my layout, so I want to get those planted after moving the existing trees around a bit so they look better.
    2. Install manual throw switches from Caboose Industries.
    3. Add some longer grass to a few spots.
    4. Install power poles and power lines, I refuse to buy the EZ line because it costs $26 (CAD), I can't find it any cheaper, and I can't pay that much for thread lol. I will hit up a fabric store and buy some stretchy thread for $5. Hopefully I find something that works well.
    5. Hook up a couple more street lights.
    6. Paint hills and mountains on the backdrop so when I push the whole layout back against the wall it's one continuous scene.
    7. Do something with the front of the table. Debating options:
      • Just paint it black.
      • Add some cedar panels so it's a clean edge.
      • Add 1x6" boards to the bottom of the 2x4 bracing so I can curve the whole layout down over the edge. This would take the most work, but would look so sweet for those low level shots.
    8. Build a catio for my cat so she can enjoy the outdoors from indoors this summer! I might do that one tomorrow. She deserves it.

    Hey All, Happy Easter,

I'll be heading to the South Texas meet-up (LSR Div 6 Open Invite Luncheon) with a layout tour planned for the afternoon. I'll continue to work up my concept for the Wichita & Northwestern fantasy / alternate history. I am trying various lettering layouts by printing my own decals. What say you, internet? Any preferences or suggestions?

Hope you all have a good one!
