As many of you do, I also have kits of Z scale buildings and rollingstock created by fellow Z scalers. I want to start a seperate Thread for anyone to post their Kit built Z projectZ.

    My first entry will be of the following;

I have built several ZTHEK SW1 kits for myself and others. Here is the latest SW1, fully painted and decaled in the Maroon and Black, Boston & Maine color scheme!

The photo does not do justice to this SW1 paint scheme. The sun was high in the sky and apparently I took the photo on the shady side. Ugh!!! I already packaged and sent this SW1 to its owner or I would attempt another photo shoot!

Justin Lian is the proud new father of a bouncing Boston & Maine SW1. I look forward in seeing photos of his New England modules/layout.

    Hobo Tim

p.s. More kits to build, more photos to post!

Hey Tim, did you know that one side of Justin's module is his native New England and the other side is his fiance's native Texas. I guess he got it reversed. ;-)

At our last show, we had to tell Justin that you had posted photos. He was so excited when he heard that.

    Hi Tim,

I have assembled two Bunk Cars from FR (Freudenreich). I couldn't find any pictures showing markings and lettering so far.
The colours I've chosen is a typical red-brown, I think quite common. The green-grey cote is inspired by a photo I found on the internet (but lost the url...) showing a car in very bad condition, relasticaly "weathered" by mother nature.

Nice looking paint there Tim but keep that loco away from the "derailier" on the siding track.

    Weekend Anti-Insane Project!

Making Z stuff throughout the week, not for me, can become monotonous and could cause a person to go insane. Today I decided to De-ToxZify my blood with a Z project for me. I got these kits near a year ago in trade!!!! Never made as production kits. Probably due to the difficulty in building!!! Or lack of detailed instructions, either way, these would have driven Robert Ray Mad if he would have made them!!!

The first photo shows one that Robert initially built!!!

Here is my progress so far!!!

When I am finished, I will have 6 of these beauties!!!!

Just as that famous Georgia Peach once said, Don't Ask, Don't Tell!! Wait, Bill Clinton wasn't from Georgia, oh I meant IMPEACHED! And what I am trying to say is Don't Ask, cause I Won't Sell!!!!

These are special kits!!! No matter if the kits are one in a million or one in 10, putting them together in Z scale is fun!!!

    Have a great day!!!

    Hobo Tim

p.s. Will post finished photos later!

    John, those Centerbeams look good!!!

How detailed is the brickwork on that building??? Is it defined or blurry? I am guessing that it is printed cardstock. Am I right? Tell us about what we can't see here or on ebay!!!

    Keep on keeping on!

    Gerd,

Both of these cars look awesome. I saw them on ebay as kitZ and drooled all over my keyboard. Awesome!!!! FR makes some very good kits. I am putting together some of his kits right now!!!

Keep up the great workZ of art!

After messing with the Maize, I started on MPP Rabbit Hash General Store.

Had to do the pilings first. Used toothpicks, as there are no dowels this small available.

I cut the pointy ends of the off the toothpicks, and sanded flush with a Dremel, then glued the walls on so I could make sure the floor stays flat.

I placed the structure right next to the river, so it can also be used as a bait shop. Buy your bait here, and we will buy your catch of the day to sell!

Tim, the building is made of cardboard glued to a piece of styrofoam. I bid and won two pieces. There are three pieces to the All state Metal Company, While the grain elevetor is a one big piece. The lines to the bricks looks pretty good, but I am not sure if they are sharp. They are too small to be seen by the naked eye. I included a bigger picture, maybe you can get a better Idea.

Made some progress today. Windows and doors were added. Had to cut new awning supports because the ones in the kit are too finicky.

Cut thinner window frames, and new windows. My kit was missing window glazing, so I cut some thin PVC for it.

Painted the whole structure white, interior included because I want to light it up inside. Added the checkerboard flooring.

Painted pilings creosote brown and put down gravel.

The first step out the back door is a doozy!

The floor looks great Robert! Reminds me of some general stores I've been too in southwestern Virginia. Not enough clutter inside yet, though. ;-)

Rabbit Hash is coming along in a Dash!

Very nice work Robert. I am always amazed at how fast you can accomplish something when you put your mind to it. Wow, re-lasered awnings and window frames. Super quick laser work!!!

How about those 1' sq black and white tile flooring you put in!!! Wow!!! I bet you had one heck of a time putting all those tiles in there!!! :teeth:

Your progress is coming right along!!! Look forward to future photos of this great project kit!!!

As for my progress, I am 90+% finished with the 6 bulkhead flat cars. I have to build two more bulkheads for the CP type frame, attach them, a little sanding, and will be ready for the airbrush!!!!

By the end of this coming week I will have the following items freshly painted and awaiting decals; 6 Robert Ray Bulkhead Flat cars, 2 Alan Curtis 89' Flat cars (smooth side) for another "Long Runner", 1 set of 5 Alan Curtis Spine Cars, 4 Robert Ray Centerbeams, and at least 3 FR Maxi III's. That is just my stuff to paint. SW-1 shell awaiting black, and 10 Ztrack bridges awaiting black/silver paint amongst other stuff for other people!!! Busy, busy, busy!!!

You can barely see that there is something inside from this angle.

But from the front it is more noticeable in that there is activity inside.

So I stuffed 2 of the rooms that will be lit up with people and stuff. Also the gravel company brought in several truckloads of sand for the small beach out back. Fishing is good too!

I got these colorful people from "We-Honest" on ebay at $20 for 300 of them. I won 2 of those auctions, so I can afford to put lots of interiors in my structures.

For the shelves of goods I just collected photos off the web, and printed then glued to balsa sticks.

    Robert,
What scale were those people? all of the ones that I saw were larger than 1:200 (N, HO and O, I think). Thanks.
