The people are the 1:200 "We-Honest" people from China. Painted in bright colors, they are good for festive and 50's scenes. I looked at their store pages and they were listed for GB auctions at 4.99 pounds sterling. I did not tell anyone until I got mine!
I bought some of their small trees early last month, and looked at their store, but at that time they didn't have any 1:200 people or cars in any of their listings(US, UK, Australia, or China). This is a pretty good turn. Dan S.
Robert, NOW those piles look good! The sand up on them really helps. What's in the creek? Carp or suckers ? The fake shelf work looks good. Leave the roof off at shows.
As you know I opened that kit before sending on to you. FWIW I didn't get any glazing either nor any shingles for another kit. In spite of complaining to Andy in several emails he never so much as said "boo". ...don
Kit Building Weekend!! Yes, this was Officially a Kit building weekend!!! Robert Ray building the Rabbit Hash Store and I built 6 of Robert Ray's Bulkhead Flat cars!!! Robert, that store looks great!!!! Almost resembles a country store I use to go to with my parents when I was a kid. Bordovsky's General Store is what it was called. Had a little bit of everything in it. I finished building the 6 bulkhead cars. Darn things took quite a bit of time. Lots of small pieces!!! But they are all done, now awaiting paint. Here is a photo of them! Once they are painted and dried, then I will glue the natural wood decks on. 2 on left have Wood backed bulkheads while the other 4 have steel backed bulkheads. Here are two more close ups. Steel backed bulkheads Wood backed bulkheads. Will post photos when painted!!! Very nicely designed kits Robert!!! Hobo Tim
I was told that MTL would be releasing this car this year, so I decided to release the GSC/GSI 53' flatcars next.
Pressed Brake Wheels Kim, I use a cheap aluminum hobby knife handle, that has a tappered end, to make the indentions in the brass etched brake wheels. I use these on the Thrall Well cars. The design is Roberts. I think it looks alot better than the flat brake wheels. Gives it depth!! Thanks for the compliment! Hobo Tim
Robert, Were you aware of this tool from Micro Mark - you can take store bought dowels and make them smaller - Joe http://www.ares-server.com/Ares/Ares.asp?MerchantID=RET01229&Action=Catalog&Type=Product&ID=50330
Joe, I have this tool, but never could get anything through it. I figured it is for making different size metal wires. Even for the metal wires one has to heat it up to near white hot and pull it through starting through the biggest dia possible to the required dia. I actually tried toothpick first it just would not strip, maybe I need to use a different type of wood... Kim
Just a note folks: Many of you are clicking the "Quote Post" instead of the "Quick Reply" link and duplicating the very long and memory instensive pictures in your responses. This makes it harder to find your comments, makes the threads exceptionally long and difficult to follow over many pages. Please click the "Quick Reply" in the outer most right corner. Thx
I thought about a carved stone foundation, and that it would look good that way, but I decided I wanted a more beach/fishing resort look. Maybe I need a vacation at a place like that, so I create it in miniature, and retreat to the depths of my mind.
This is usually one of the least expensive and most enjoyable retreats. You may, sometimes have to leave a trail of bread crumbs so that you can find your way back depending on the level of depth achieved. Steve F
Hi Robert, You already tried to use brass Tube ? It goes down to 1mm or less in outer diameter. To fix possible just to glue nail in the tube, or solder on a PCB-Board. And painted with matt gray you can give them the look from concrete pile, some green moss near the ground and looks perfect. But perhaps I looked to much James Bond ... DR. No ? Anyway it was this with crocodile trap Perhaps it will be out of the epoche, anyway the building look great.
I have not had a chance to work on the Rabbit Hash store for a few weeks now. I have been doing all kinds of other projects instead. So far I have converted a Hallmark Observation Heavyweight into an NP Parlor Observation car, and one of the Sleepers into a Coach with round top windows. These cars have laser etched acrylic carsides with rivets. I am still working on decals for them. I also made decals for Erie furniture and Automobile boxcars with the 6' Erie diamond logo, and sent those to Tom Mann. I need some time to take some pictures. -Robert
Thanks for the update Rob, do you still have the drawings / Pictures you use for the checkerboard flooring and the Shelves and goods?
