Here are the latest pictures taken of the township that I finished yesterday. Hmmm I wonder who is buried next to the church hehehe Let me know what you think your coments would be appreciated
Lookin great paul! The streets are excellent. What do you use for pavement again? (I know you told me once...) I don't think I want to know what names are on the tombstones....
Thanks Rob the pavement (roads) are made of wet and dry that panel shops use to rub down cars. I used 800 grade then weathered it with white chalk. The paths are made of evergreen styrene painted by GATS
Beautiful! Does your town have a station or are you strictly a freight line? <img src=http://www.trainboard.com/sigbreak.gif> Russ
Paul, sweet work!!!! I like the grave markers... kinda gives a sobering, quiet tone to the church area... The streets look great! I will also use that method. Thanks for sharing! Let's see some streamliners!!!!
Hey Colonel, You'd better install a support column under that second floor on the building on the corner. You don't want to risk a collapse. Your town looks great. I can't believe the amount of work you accomplish in such a short time frame. You are an inspiration. Thanks.
Looks absolutely great! Is the building next to the church a parochial school? Looks like many Lutheran Churches in America that have a cemetary on one side of the church and a school on the other side. I gues you could say both coming and going. I am Principal at a Lutheran School, however we don't have a cemetary. The roads and sidewalks (paths?) are very realistic. Just need some traffic. Too bad there isn't too much available in N scale vehicle wise. You should send this photo to Atlas and tell them to start making more automobiles. Daryl
That area looks excellent Paul. What a difference a city scene makes to a layout, pity I don't have the space. Good to see that you could drive along those streets without hitting a traffic queue
Thanks for all the comments guys reading them gave me such a thrill and made my efforts all the more worthwhile. Daryl, When I decided on a church and school I did have in mind a typical chrich and school as you described. Now all I need is a name do you have any suggestions . I still need to add more details to the area. I have ordered from Blair Line some street signs, road advisory signs and aome store signs. I am intending on adding trees this weekend around the school yard. I'll post pics once I have added the trees.
Depends if you want it to be lutheran or catholic. Good lutheran names would be Immanual, Messiah, or St. Paul. Good catholic names would be St. Marys or St. Pat. These are common names here in the USA. Of course, since our school is St. Paul, that's would be my first choice. BTW, Plastruct makes a playground set that includes a slide and a swing set that would look good in the school yard. A flag pole somewhere would look good too! Can't wait to see the trees. Daryl
Paul, The more I look at your layout, the more I enjoy it. I am in love with your town. It looks very contemporary, and doesn't have all those dreary red brick buildings that are soooooooo available commercially. One thing I noticed is the colours of your stuctures, they are lighter in tone, almost a creamy tone to some of them. This has got me to thinking if I bought the Woodland Scenic jobbies, and air brushed them in more contemporary colours, the town won't look as "red and dark" as they do now. I look forward to more pics. Maybe eventually I will get out of the dark age and start posting pictures.
Love the city...awesome work...specially love the church scene...on mine I was going to work a wedding into the scene. I really like how those streets turned out. I must try this idea...thanks for the inspiration. Ed
Rick, I have to agree with you the pastel colours just help to brighten up the layout a little, I have also used light grey ballast I understand how dirty a rail corridor can be but most non nodellers dont understabd that So I chose to model whats pleasing to the eye. I have considered graffiti on the retaining walls but my wife isn't very agreeable lol.

Mike, The building you mentioned that has a large overhange will be a gas station. I just have to find some N scale gas pumps. As I said before I still have a lot of detail to add , thanks for your comments
Veery Nice little, small town there. If you can find some, a couple of elm trees would be a really nice idea, as almost every US city seems to have them somewhere, planted longa ago by the city founders. A perfect place for a really large on would be on the corner that right now has a pine on it. The pines in the field are perfect...seems I remember seeing things like this alot. The pines are good, but you need some elms to finish the spectrum. Keep it up!
