Here are pictures just taken of my completed cement works, still some detailing to be done but this gives you the general picture
Paul, I really like the church building...of course, being a pastor, I think EVERY layout needs at least one church. Speaking of churches, here's a photo I recently took of my layout church. SOmething went wrong in the exposure, but I turned it into a usable one anyway. A summer thunderstorm crashes into Augsburg There's more pics on my web page. Jeff Augsburg & Concord R.R. Paul I think I am on to you secret as to how you get so much accomplished so quickly. You don't sleep! PS. You gotta love the "Golden Rodent" on CP. [ 07 April 2002, 05:51: Message edited by: rsn48 ]
Jeff, Thanks for the pic I really like the idea of the sign outide the church, did you use a printer to make it? Rick, I just allocate time to work on the layout although I have to admit the past few weekends I have done nothing but live in the layout room. I also try to spend an hour most evenings working on the layout but I do this in spurts. I may not touch the layout for a month or so then i'll get back into it. My next project is going to have a go scratch building a girder bridge I'll keep you updated on the progress
I have added a sign to my church i tried to make it as small as possible what do you guys think? does it look a little out of scale?
Good to see an SP unit working the cement plant, instead of those yellow ones Must get over to the church for a game of bingo
Hate to say it Paul but the sign does look a little to big. But it looks great otherwise, if you can do the same and shrink it, I think it will fit the scene better.
Paul, I made my sign with the computer on regular paper. I then rubber cemented the paper to styrene. As far as I can tell, your sign looks pretty good. Remember a real church sign has fairly large letters...to be read from the street. Use a fairly clean font....Ariel, Times New Roman, or something like that. In Word, I changed the font size down to 4 or 6 point. Printing on a laser printer gives a much clearer sign with smaller print. However, an ink jet pritner isn't really too bad either. Western Valley Railway ....Ed. I have a church wedding scene in my town diarama that you might be interested in. However I'm not up to putting it on Trainboard yet. If you would like to see it, I can send it to you in an email if I know where to send it. Contact me off train board if you are interested.
great job colonel, i see am going to be using alot of your ideas on my pike when i finely get started on mine maybe i'll use the money for the new rugs what do you think
Rich, You are most welcome to use any of my layout as ideas for yours. To me thats a real form of flattery. If it wasn't for others helping me i would not have achieved what i have so far
