Seems they are on their way. Two of them. Heres a note from Bruce Mercer on Loconotes:
Awesome! Anybody got any history on these Vancouver Wharves units. Build dates, Frame numbers, etc? Better yet, I need pics! :D

By the way, seems both units are ex SP/SSW. Anybody got any specifics???

No specifics (on either unit) but I did find a picture on the web of 821 (at RailPictures.Net). Vancouver Wharves #821 is definately an ex-SP unit (based on the location of the number boards...The SP was the only railroad to have this modification on it's SW1500s due to the light package that these units were delivered with).

Update: OK...I spoke too soon. Google turned up a posting on RailroadForums.com (http://www.railroadforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12452&page=2) that had pictures of both #821 and #823 in addition to the following information...

Excellent!! I'll have to contact the photographer and see if I can use his pic for my roster and if he has any further info. Very cool. :D

Sorry to drift a little- This has me wondering what's happened with Vancouver Wharves? Replaced these units? Absorbed into another operation?

Just a guess on my part (based on some of the information available on the web) but it appears that CN (the current "rail" component of Vancouver Wharves) may just be "upgrading" the power that it has assigned there. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any specific information on the rail operations at the wharves themselves...Only "general" information and a little history (locomotives, the transition from BC Hydro to BC Rail to CN, etc.). The Vancouver Wharves history page (at http://www.vanwharves.com/vanwharves_history.html) has a little information...

That's a bit more info than I had found. Guess it's progress. Wish we could roll the clock back 30 years! It's been a while since I was last up there. My only photo, was a poor sun angle of an old ALCo.

Are the SWs being repainted or will MET just use them as is?

Unknown at this point. They have not repainted the ex Santa Maria Valley/BHP units nor the ex WCTU units yet and they may just not get repainted if new units to replace them are on the way. I would suspect the SW1500s will eventually get repainted at some point.
Its all just a guess for now. I'll post when/if I find out more.

Isn't the M&ET the same railroad that is/was using GE 70-tonners? I remember reading in one of Kalmbach's special edition magazines (Locomotive) that this line still used the little GE endcab engines.

Yep. Thats the one. I believe they have the largest fleet of 70Tonners rostered.

From recent news, SW1500 #1501 has been relettered for M&ET.

In further news, the two ex White City Terminal & Utility 70Tonners have supposedly been primered. I'm assuming this is to get painted in the typical M&ET paint scheme.

Maybe the ex WCTU engines now MET 612 and 613 will get the car bodies from wrecked engines 606 and 609 to save time and paint.

From what I've seen of the MET paint scheme (as shown on the 70-tonners), I think the new additions would look awesome in that livery!

They will not be in the Current MET scheme. They will be in a modified version of the paint that is on them now. Wait and see real soon. They are looking pretty good.
