Misleading Item on Ebay

    No doubt about it you have to know your stuff when buying on Ebay or any other auction site for that matter I suppose. I have on a number of occasions noticed items marked as "MicroTrains" which clearly are not. I believe in some cases this may be the sellers ignorance as many of these sellers are antique or second hand dealers who have little knowledge of model trains.

    I have found my best helper in the auction game is my small collection of Walthers catalogues dating back to the mid 1980's. These can give you a good idea of the value of an item, who made it, etc.

    And always remember buyer beware.

    The ones that really get are the dealers that put in their auction description, VERY RARE, we run into a lot of this on the O scale pages, had one just last week try to sell some of the old AHM FM C-liners, and he called them Baldwin Sharks, then he had the audacity to open the bid at $90.00 for both units, typically, these units start at $10.00..... :rolleyes:
