Keep an eye on Their listings..You'll either laugh or die of shock when you discover what's rare and special...At least to them. It occurs often .
Sometimes when I am bored I will get online and pull up Ebay and type in Rare N scale............and let the laughs begin! LOL Another good one is N scale custom. You would not believe what you find on that one that "opportunists" are trying to pedal as custom. When in fact you can go to your LHS or swap meet and pick said items up with no problems at all. CUSTOM????? I don't think so! Ryan
Here's a (somewhat) hypothetical for you: Would you allow someone with zero feedback and apparently zero buys or sells since first signing up for eBay in 2006 bid on your auction?
As long as there are no negative feedback resulting in that zero( I've seen that once), You have to start somewhere..I did in 1998. If he or she doesn't pay, you file a claim and get your listing fees back. I've had flaky bidders with lots of positive feedback who either had buyers remorse or a convenient short term bout of amnesia.
I signed up for ebay in 97 or 98 and never bought or sold anything. I did win the bidding for some rims but they turned out to have some damage that was more that the seller admitted to. When he brought them over for the exchange and I backed out because of the damage, neither of us provided negative feedback.
I have had that once or twice. I usually contacted them and explained my auction payment policy and the value of feedback. Never had a problem. The non payers all had lots of feedback.
However the Kato ones aren't near any shelves yet...so maybe the guy will get lucky and sell it to someone who doesn't know about the new Kato stuff.
I don't know if sell is the right "s" word. I mean, $50 over the MSRP of the new cars and calling it "very rare and hard to find" a few months before Kato releases the new sets?
Since it isn't available ANYWHERE, then it IS rare and hard to find. Better question is what will the seller do when the buyer (assuming there is one) wants his merchandise?
Actually, the set for sale already does exist. What Kato is going to be selling later this year is an updated version of that set for a lower price than what the seller is offering.
What am I missing here? http://www.ebay.com/itm/N-Scale-Uni...el_RR_Trains&hash=item1c384eefdf#ht_189wt_855
What you are missing here is you were NOT the seller that is now laughing ALL the way to the bank with a wheel barrow full of ca$h. Ryan
Laughing? The seller probably is in the hospital, having such wild hysterics they split a gut after pulling off such a sale.
There is no possible way that was a legitimate sale; NOBODY is that stupid. That is more than most of the OMI Brass Turbines are selling for.
Look closely, unless they released a 'non veranda' version of the UP turbine (I don't think they did, did they?) then that is a nicely done custom kitbashed locomotive. Not saying I would pay that kind of a price, but it isn't 'just' a Concor turbine.
Okay, this will rock your socks. I mean why bother? I put this on my watch list just to see if there is an idiot who wants it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/N-Scale-tra...del_RR_Trains&hash=item43c4e77c39#ht_22wt_902
