ATSF freight, ca 1962. Great question--I like hearing about what people are modeling, especially when it isn't such a "part of the crowd" (like ATSF). I was modeling BN until I moved from the Pacific Northwest to the Southwest, where it seemed logical that I model the ATSF. That backdated my layout plans as well. To compensate, I'll have a lower deck representing the Northwest with GN and NP power.
Ha, I love this! On my layout, it's 1962, and ATSF has just decided to merge with GN, NP, CB&Q, and SP&S to compete with SP and UP! (It'll be amazing to watch those zebra stripes and blue-and-yellow bookends rolling over Stevens Pass). Cristi
And also... Like Jamie, I forgot to include everything I model. One leg of my layout is devoted to a tiny local freelanced line, the New Mexico Central. I developed my paint scheme with the help of the folks here and have found the paint mixes that will work. (Yay!) It's a railroad company that actually existed, running over a right of way that actually existed, to a town no tracks ever reached--but might have.

PRR all the way !!!!I model from 1950 give or take to early 60's so I get a bit of steam and alot of deisels. Allen....
Since I rode the San Francisco Chief from Stockton, CA to Chicago in 1954, there was really no other choice. Ship And Travel Santa Fe All The Way.
Of course mine is modern BNSF. Now what does look interseting and tempting is KCSdeM. One never knows.
"If It Looks Good: Run It"! With a predilection for Canadian Pacific, (mult-mark), and Great Northern, (orange / Pulman Green), I will run anything I like from 4-6-0 steam to modern bullet trains. As for era I think this says it all: In my world the Great Northern took over the UP and shares trackage rights with the CP.
Hmmm Jersey Central, New Jersey transit, New York Central, Penn Central.Erie Lackawanna, Lehigh Valley. One guess what state I live in )))))
Primarily SAL and ACL. Some RI, B & O, D,L & W, NH, and, going by this thread, the obscure and little known NYC. Somebodies buying all those lightning stripes.
Uh...Joisey? I model/collect PRR, SF, MILW, CR and a little NYSW. Guess which states I've lived in? (Hint: ATSF does run east of the Mississippi.)
The Erie of course, 1954. I am also planning on a modular HO layout just so I have a place to run all those awesome PRR sound-equipped steam engines.
I model the PRR, but my layout is located in western PA so I allow trackage rights to many of the Northeast and Midwestern lines to run on my tracks toward their respective destinations. I also have my own railline named the Bessemer and Shenango Valley RR Lines, again, steam to diesel. At one time, I devoted some time to even make up some stationery, calling cards with me as Pres, and wrote a little digested history of the B&SV. Now I am working on another layout, and the revised history which will include truisms from my family will be brought in. Ken "FloridaBoy" Willaman
I'm a midwestern modeler transferred to the sunny south. The "home road" is GTW/CN. My "Parents Roads" would be MILW & NYC. In Z scale, I'm CMRI (Chicago Milwaukee Rock Island) Now I do L&N, TC, IC
I model mostly Conrail. Here are a few others that will naver make the most popular: Mass Central Grafton & Upton Guilford Providence and Worcester MBTA
