BNSf has decided to sell a bunch of the former BN SD40-2's to FURX. Of coarse they leased them right back but they are so much cheaper to operate now that they are not mainitained by aperantly anyone. Kevin
The may be patched, but not as extreme as the UP does. One thing about BNSF is that they're not like the UP in the patching business.
I dont remember what railroad exec said this (I think from SP)..."Paint does not move freight". I think patching as opposed to repaint is a better buisness plan than a complete repaint. Painting a loco can't be all that cheap and if the existing paint is in good shape doint it's job (protecting the loco from corosion) then why repaint it when a patch would do. Now if we are talking former BN locos.....no repainting or patching should be done unless of course it is repainted in BN glory
