Here are some pics of the battleship USS West Virginia, BB-48 in N scale. I've been working on and off on her for about a year now, and finally decided to finish her. She is painted as she looked when she returned home after the end of World War II, in October of 1945. Everything is either made from Evergreen styrene or homecast in resin by me, off scratchbuilt masters. Now I just have to build a case to put her in Thanks again to Pete Nolan for inspiring me to try a new aspect of the hobby.
one word...STUNNING. My hat is off sir. take :note: everyone one, the gauntlet has been thrown down.
WOW!! Awesome work....and best yet, you make pretty clear why she came back....take a look at all them AA guns....Kamikazis never were able to touch her hard enough to get her...she musta been a helluva ship to fight, huh??
Wow!! WOW!! You might want to give the folks over at one of the ship modelling magazines a shot at doing an article on that beaut!
Great looking battlewaggon, I would say the only thing missing are the naval ratings busy manning the impressive firepower. Love it, awesome detail for scratch built, would never have guessed
Hey, Bill, are you going to do an article on scratchbuilding those O Scale above board point motors? They look a lot like the Atlas N Scale jobbies. Even the track and cars look N Scale, too! Bleedin' nice work there, awesome.
Damn fine work there Bill, totally amazing stuff! Looking at all those anti-aircraft guns makes you wonder who in their right mind would even contemplate attacking such a target......
Mouth drops to floor, very impressive. I have always wanted to build one of these, especially this one (being a WV boy). You have done it justice, just need a crew cleaning the decks and going about business. Man that is great work. WOW
Hi folks: Thanks for all the nice comments on the ship. Gats, it's all N scale in the picture Dave, the carrier in the background is also scratchbuilt in N scale. It's the helicopter assault ship USS Okinawa, LPH-3. I'm glad she is done. My next project is to build a case on the wall of my train room to keep all of them in when they are not on the layout docked.
