Nick, there are some things ya gotta live with, and that's one of 'em. ;)
besides, I'm not good enough to hack up all that special stuff and fix it. I don't even add free standing grabs cause I suck at them. Gotta pick your battles.... :)

LOL mike I know how you feel on that. For grabs try BLMAs Jig for drilling holes. It takes some practice I'm still getting the hang of it.

    Whew!

Well my workbench is getting a real workout.

I have been going through all of my locomotives and installing decoders in those that have not been done yet and tuning up all of the locomotives that needed a little tender loving care.

I still have a lot of locomotives to go, but I needed to stop and install the DCC Specialties PowerPax so I could work better with the sound decoders.

Apart from that, I have been speed matching all of my permanent consists. Lucky for me, the era of the ATSF I am working on always used the LABC designation for all A-B-B-A consists. And during my era, they never broke these up.

Next up, replacing the MRC decoders in the Challengers and Big Boys with the Soundtraxx Tsunami decoders.

After that, well there is always track to lay and ballast, but that is not on the workbench.:tb-biggrin:

Ok so I'm working on an ATSF passenger train right now. The train is # 191/200 the "Chico" it is a 5 car train that ran from La Junta to Denver Co. It consist of 1 E8Am, 1 ATSF express box, 2 baggage cars, & 2 coaches. Here is the Express box FE-29 #9708 I just finished.(Still need to seal it.) And Coach #3101.

After doing the coach I might go through the rest of my Santa Fe passenger equipment and reletter & number it. I like the size of the micro-scale decals better than KATO's lettering.

I have used micro-LEDs soldered to the ends of very fine transformer wire. There is one on the left in this photo beyond the end of the roof lighting the station sign.

The stone is a Slater's Placticard garden tiles. I painted it lightgrey and buff, and then I painted some of the stones individually with dark grey. The resulting effect is not very nice: the darkgrey stones do not look very naturally. That's why I give the walls a wash of dirty water (darkgrey paint with a lot of water). That softens the color of the individually painted stones and gives this good effect.

The roof has been made from wallpaper. I just go to the hardware store and take some free samples.:tb-biggrin:

    Numberboards

Continuing on numberboards. I have about 30 left to do. It sure is tedious but I really don't see a complete engine without them.

Might as well add hoses and weathering right now.

This was my workbench last month while I was having decoder issues with my two Mikados. Glad to say everything is fully operational now. :D There's even my "Ultimate Saddle Tank" shell and the shell of the "Ultimate 4-4-0" before its new smoke stack and paint job.

That's a customer install. Once this mess is cleaned up, I will have another interesting HO customer project on the bench. I will post pictures when I get to it.
