Hey Mark, might wanna hit up them handrails in BN green also http://www.trainpix.com/BN/EMDRBLD/SD40G/7308B.HTM Mike
Now that I have gotten rid of all the old regular Bachmann stuff, there is nothing on the work bench, everything is new, operable, and in tip top shape. fatalxsunrider43
Geep repaints Haven't had too much time in the layout room lately cos of the winter cold, but managed to repaint / redecal these geeps From front to back: - Atlas GP30 #3027 > larger billboard logo (one of only about 4 D&RGW units that got the larger logo) + Rio Grande logo on nose - A real old Atlas / Kato GP35 #3045 that was in need of a repaint (original factory paint was dark orange) + renumber - Atlas GP40 #3066 that I backdated from larger logo to smaller + renumbered - Atlas GP40 #3101 renumbered cos I had duplicate road numbers So long as we're having fun right?:msmile:
Thanks Mike, In the words of Darth Vader "the force is strong with this one..." I had to find something I could bring into the living room without getting too much grief from the wife wink: At least my whole motive power roster now has cab sunshades / snow plows & MU hoses, one less thing that I have to do later Steve
Been working on this guy for the last few days. It's another odd ball in the MRL fleet, being the only unit with snow sheilds. Just waiting for the handrails from Kato, got it off ebay but the rails were broken, seller refunded $10 so its cool. Anyways, built the forward part of the dynamic blister out of styrene to look like the longer -2 style, made the electrical cabinet from styrene too and cut out the ratchet brake from the nose. The new brake wheel and stand will go at the back of the unit as soon as the walkway arrives. The 2 can style antennas are from the base of a broken drill bit, snow shields are old Sunrise details and just about everything else is BLMA. I'm also waiting on the air horns from Miniatures by Eric. Has anyone else ordered from Miniatures by Eric before, does shipping take awhile from him?
There is some great modeling in this thread! Flash, you've been busy! LOL Was going to individually comment on some of the work, but I will just Thank everyone here for sharing and posting photos. There is alot of talent here on Trainboard!
Kato F3 pretending to be an F9...... Please guys go easy on me & try not to count the rivets I just wanted to repaint my Kato F3 into the D&RGW single stripe scheme to represent the lead unit of the RGZ #5771 and spent the past few weeks doing it Also did 2 x B units and am working on a PB unit for the steam gen Used selected parts from the BLMA E/F ultimate super detail kit but bent my own grabs from 0.08" brass wire Replaced the Kato coupler with an MT#905 Z Repaint job took a while and it was hard to get the stripe exactly level but it pretty much ended up where it looks good Although I repainted & decalled the B units they didn't get the super detail treatment cos I have a layout to build - I guess that's why they're called B units?
I'm painting the sills on the Chessie covered hoppers B&O blue. I used Tamiya tape and it did well, as usual. There were so many irregular areas that I still had to do a brush touch up. Steve: Beautiful DRGW F3 units. If you like it, I like it. I made some Cotton Belt black widow SD7s. Then I learned that SSW didn't have any SD7s so after a while it started to bother me. I eventually changed them back to Espee. OTOH, I have some DRGW SD60s which DRGW never had. I can't tell the difference in an SD50 and an SD60 unless I look closely, so that didn't bother me.
I've been slowly making progress on my Burlington Mikado conversion from GHQ. All the parts ready and the Mikado disassembled: First part applied! Making good progress now: The GHQ parts are going on like a charm, but the darn brass rod is giving me all kinds of fits. Even so, I'm still having a ton of fun adding these detail parts!!
Lumber Loads I've been detailing out a ILSX SD40-2 and a CN SD40-3, building some more layout and a quick and easy project: Lumber loads I made from some prototype photos I took.
Hey Mark, Sorry, those are from Key.This is part of my brass fleet. I'd like to get ahold of some of those GHQ tenders myself. Have a good one, wolfW
