Flash, i would have to say none. In looking at the photo in this link it seems to be a little more subdued than any of those. http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=321057&nseq=0 Maybe if you add something to the UP color to tone it down a bit. Hope it was an opinion you were looking for?
Putting the finishing touches on the New Lisbon station: Added chimneys, painted roof, rain gutters, down spouts, lamps, awnings, and even a Western Union Telegraph sign!
Looks good Bill. I like the light weathering on the station roof including some mossy green. The breezeway will add some curiosity for viewers to.
Bill, beautiful job on the New Lisbon depot... How did you simulate the great looking stucco finish?? Regards, Otto
GN X205 Great Northern 30' wood caboose X205. This was rebuilt from a standard offset cupola caboose. As well as scribbing the sides and adding the windows, the cupola had to be widened and moved farther forward.
I don't think everyone ever know's it all, and regardless of anyones level of experience, we are all here to help, educate, teach, correct, applaud, each other at all different times involving all different subjects. fatalxsunrider43
Right now there's some wood "kits" I need to build (reason for the " around kits: they take about 5 minutes to assemble, I just need to make myself build them). Also want to get going on weathering another boxcar, and on the workbench in my head is the changes I want to make to me layout; I'm re-doing the yard throat, adding in an industrial district instead of the one big industry I had, and adding a passing siding and shortening the engine servicing up. lot of projects, just nothing to really show for them right now.
Update: 6/7/10 I received several decal sets and parts this week. Here is the short list: Microscale Decals: 60-236 60-689 60-1236 60-4076 60-736 Gold Medal Models: Etched Upgrade for MDC Tank Cars I took a look at the decals and was a bit disappointed. The GATX markings were the wrong font or the numbers were not available for the cars I wanted to model. The set 60-625 features the right font and number blocks but is not currently available. Anyone have this set? I managed to start two new cars using the GMM MDC kit. I don’t like the kit quite as much as the one for Con-Cor. The MDC kit requires gluing cross support railings on the tank platform. This could easily be knocked off or broken. When complete the MDC tank looks a lot like these GATX cars: GATX 300480 GATX 300487 This model was upgraded using the GMM MDC upgrade kit. I added details to match the GATX cars including end rail supports and side rail support locations. I added side railing supports next to the ladder to simulate ladder supports. The brake gear came from leftover parts from an IM ACF hopper kit. I like these parts much better than the ones salvaged from the MTL under-frame. This is the basic assembly process:
Yeah, those *do* look really good. Maybe it's time to upgrade the MDC cars I have floating around also.
What's ON my workbench? It's more like WHERE IS my workbench!! So many trains, so little time. I swear, as soon as I finish the next dozen projects, I'll get organized.. Otto, modeling Cajon Pass circa '50
I painted the handrails and fuel caps on my first ever Kato locomotive. My father bought this guy over 12 or so years ago and like a true Kato, it still runs absolutely perfect today, just like the day we bought it. I had already painted the fuel caps and the front hand rail on the far side here: And everything painted, steps too: Here's a quarter view: And a scenic view: I absolutely love how small things like this can improve looks by so much!
Hah! Any modeler that has a clean bench is spending too much time on-line.. Mine currently looks like an Irwin Allen disaster film location...
