Wow, some really cool projects here! I'm working a grain mill complex - I've started another thread to document progress here Scratchbuild project - Modesto J.S. West Mill complex - TrainBoard.com THe paint booth looks very cool - an excellent solution for those of us that live in less-than-temperate climates
No volitile stuff here.. Like I said earlier, that's for outside. Here's the backside.. And here's a better shot from inside. If anyone is interested in this booth, I will have drawings for it in a couple of weeks, along with Home Depot part numbers. I've built it using simple power tools. You can't spray solvent paint, but it's worked great for acrylics! If you notice, the filter catches just about all the paint spray. There's a little bit on the motor that using a finer filter would catch. The airflow is wonderful and the noise is not bad. A different fan would cut that down and I'll include it as an option.
What type engines? Concor? I have a bunch of those to do where you have to replace the pilot and grind the frame a little. Thanks.
But decoding is a snap. The ones I did I just had to drill & tap a hole for power pickup on one side. Lot's of room for a hardwired DZ123.
Nothin right now. 'Been too broke to let myself even visit trainboard. Get the "I Wants" every time I do. It's ironic, the two locomotives, (GG1 and DD40), I wanted more than anything else came out just when I was unable to even look at them sideways. That Aero Train from CC, yikes. Now Fox Valley has the 4-4-? Streamlined coming. So, most likely I won't be around much this winter. Not all bad news. My mortgage appears to be safe for now and I have learned 227 ways to fix oatmeal and pasta. Ok, more like 10 ways to do oatmeal and about 30 for pasta. My relationship with my girlfriend of 9 months appears to be rock solid with a permanent future. I've written a "heroic fiction" poem that seems to really touch people: Honor the Locket A friend pushed me to get an eye exame. They found cataracts in the dead center of my eyes. I could have significant acuity improvements by February. This by extension - could - improve my employment chances. If you want to reach me: dynamic.obverse @ gmail.com Take care all and salutations upon the season. Steve
We have all missed you Steve. Yea...the economy sucks! Here is hoping for a better 2010 for everyone. Happy holidays Steve...keep your chin up. .
Trestle Towers and Gas Station The towers are now in place under the trestle: The third tower is still on the workbench... This gas station was made by my son, Florian:
What are your plans for the free standing leg of the left tower. That looks like it is going to be an interesting problem to solve.
I installed my first sound decoder sorry for the crappy phone-video quality. hmm, not sure why TB isn't inserting the player here.. the link will have to do. [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1Ms5_fLBk"]YouTube- Broadcast Yourself.[/nomedia]
The staff has noticed this and has determined that there was a change at YouTube that is affecting posts like these. Remote sites like TrainBoard need to update their plug-in to get the video posts to look like they used to. We are working on it.
That's on my workbench now - a steel underpass; scratchbuilt with styrene I and H beams. When ready (in about a week or so) I'll post a photo. Michael
Flash, the PA's are 1st run KATO units, And I have to grind a frame a little to clear the frame with the plow.
Working on a set of ConCor Impack cars. Completely redoing the truck mounting system and lowering the cars. Still need to add all the brake line details and end railings. Just need 2 more middle cars to make this an 8 car set, hopefully I'll get them soon. Mike
Thank-You! I appreciate the photos of the spray booth. Today I was outside with my airbrush, compressor and the model I showed on page seven of this thread. Even though 'today' the weather here in SoFla was a balmy 84 degrees and 60% humidity... the idea of having to depend on perfect weather to paint something 'safely' would slow down production. I'm sure others who live in less accomodative climates will be interested in this spray booth too.
My update... the mess is still a mess but some things got done... The hopper tops are for another trainboard member who is in our N-trak club. They replace the hatch type roofs on the older Atlas plastics hopper to convert them to grain service. The Royal Gorge loco is done for now. This is more something for my son to play with so I didn't go hog wild detailing it. If I wind up assembling more cars for the train, I may paint up some Kato F's in it's place. Not shown are a couple of Kato bridges, shortened by one truss each. They are setting in the paint booth drying.
Excellent stuff everyone! My workbench is currently empty as a lot of other tasks have taken priority for now. Hopefully after Thanksgiving I'll get some projects back on cue.
Finished GN 25' wood caboose. X389. I painted and decaled it in the yellow lettered scheme with the Glacier National Park herald......
