quote:
Originally posted by marc: Hello Catt, It is definitely a good idea Although my last name is french, "patiou" and not really prototypical for a North American industry,I would choose a meat packing plant. Here are my reasons: 1°It is a real "transformation" industry 2°It goes from the golden railroading age to today (frozen food) 3°I do like meat... If you think of modelling old south like New Orleans or Baton Rouge Area and even Saint Louis, a french name is plausible... marc

Even the Illinois River Valley has French sur-names in abundance, LaSalle for example...also anywhere in the Mississippi River Valley from start to finish. DePue, LaCrosse, Praire Du Chein, just to name a few. [ 07 March 2001: Message edited by: Maxwell Plant ]
Here's a few from me... Hailstone Mining (Mothers Maiden Name. The Hailstones had a few coal miners in the Family.) Weatherford Industrial Park (Yet another old family name on my Mother's side.) Heolle Oil (prounced HELLY. German, from Dad's Family.) Wayne Transportation (My middle name. Wayne in Old English means "Wagon Maker".) Brent Ordinace (Lots of cool "haz-mat" to haul in and out.) That's all I can come up with right now.
Even though I probably wouldn't want to own it, a business comes to mind that I thought of as a kid when my brother's and I were playing cars and trucks. How about People's Gas. [ 07 March 2001: Message edited by: mdrzycimski ]
An industry /business named after ourselves, eh? Well, how's this? Thompson Bakeries (inbound flour, sugar, etc., bread & baked goods shipped outbound by truck & rail) Lomax Asphalt (my wife's maiden name- her Dad was in construction)- inbound asphaltic oil & gravel
