All I can say is WOW! How much does the kit cost? I hope that you offer the etchings as a seperate piece someday. I'd like to see more grills for EMD engines too. In my case, a "square" grill pattern for the GP40-2 to be back-dated would be wonderful. But I am sure there are others wanting many other unique things first. Still, it looks great! ~Donovan in Dallas
Welcome, Donovan!! I have 4 kits to build--I can hardly wait to tackle them! I have to get my modeling area in order first...
Thanks Guys. The F45's have been a big hit. So much so that I will be doing a second run. Anyone interested contact me directly at southernalbertarail@shaw.ca Now what will the next cowl unit be??? grant
well... if you can provide the right trucks as well I would vote for the Dash 8-40CM ! the huge shippment with the F45s arrived save in NZ as well, thank you Grant ! steve w.
Good stuff Steve. That didn't take long at all. Bye the way...... Pretty good guess..... Not the next one but in the works.... I know.... you've heard that before!! grant
Okay, I was going to ask this as a question, but after re-reading the last page of this thread, and looking at prototype photos, and most importantly test fitting the shell on both an SD40 and an SD40-2, I think it is a comment... This kit requires a Kato SD40 or SD45 unit....NOT an SD40-2, like the kit instructions say. The SD40-2 chassis is too long, and also the trucks aren't right. You can see the misprint in the instructions in Wolfworks second picture. If you got the kit but don't have the chassis yet, don't get confused. Grant, you might want to e-mail all the people you sent the kit to, if you can.
Already done Joel. I ammended the instructions as well but you may have got one that slipped through right when the error was noticed. grant
I've got this eMail from Grant on 06/17/2006 ! Sorry if this is a repeat but I want to make sure I get everyone. There is a typo in the instructions. The drive to use is the Kato SD40/45 or the newer DCC ready Kato SD40 not the SD40-2 as the instructions state. Apologies grant
so the mighty MLW M420 will be the next one then ? naa, this is not a cowl engine at all... please feel free to send me an eMail with the right answer then...
my f45 kit arrived as well. now i just need to find a source for the additional parts such as 2-56 screws, #50/#78#79#80 drills. i have no clue what these numbers mean. we're running on metrics over here in the modern part of the world ;-) steve, grant, any hints about what mm we're talking here ? btw, count me in for another 3 kits
Yessiree Just luv it & cant wait for the next "culling" of loco's from the SAR roster lol (hint hint ) I'm thinking of buying another kit now....... "Bout time someone did a Krauss Maffee me tinks?

Anyone see the Athearn F45/FP45 post? Rumor has it that Athearn has announced this at the NMRA National show. It will be a Genesis, if it's true! 2slim
Just started mine Man those itty bitty steps are interesting - holding them between 2 tweesers and bending:shade:
Talked with Grant today and I have one coming too! These pictures of the model look excellent, and I can't wait to get mine!
